“Great coffee, lovely terrace and service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

In the heart of vibrant Bolzano this is hotspot and on busy days it can be difficult to get a table. Always a good moment to sit on this lovely terrace and sip a great cappucino or espresso. Traditional setting. Very friendly service from Head waiter Pasquale, who is very well managing and serving all guests and ensuring that everybody leaves with a smile!

A good choice if you want to visit beautiful Bolzano and South Tyrol. The hotel has everything you need, comfortable rooms, good breakfast, fantastic terrace, WIFI plus a perfect location right in the middle of the town.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Upon our arrival at this Hotel we were quite surprised at how "up-market" the place is. Very efficient & courtious check-in - good English spoken, etc. in all, a very good first impression. The place is ideally located in the the old town area with all the usual amenities & attractions, literally, next-door. Plenty of eateries & really up-market shopping mall. Our room overlooked the Piazza with the Xmas Markets in full-swing & a beautiful view of the nearby snow-capped mountains. The "so-called" balcony was litle more than a railng a railing stuck outside some french doors - but adequate with enough room to stand on. Otherwise, the room was clean, comfortable & well enough equipped with what you would expect in a good class hotel. Breakfasts were very good & fresh coffee service excellent. Very dissappointed in the Hotel Restaurant though - it wasn't the kind of place where you could just walk downstairs & have a substantial dinner in the evening - it was usually crowded-out (with trendy locals I suspected) & had what I would best describe as a postively unapetising "funky" menu comprising what i would regard as "snacks" & expensive too! Apart from all that I have little else to add, apart from the fact that I was perfectly satisfied with our stay & I thought it was good value for the money. Just a tip for travellers arriving by train - the station was only a short walk from the Hotel whereas our cab, on arrival, had to go by a tortuous route to get there. Howver, it might have been due to road closures for the Xmas markets?

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the piazza/mountains, etc.

The hotel is in a perfect position to visit the town. Room are quite spacious and very clean, have only found the toilet quite cold notwithstanding the heater in it was perfectly working. Breakfast is within the average a good choice of both continental or English. Personnel is al very professional but a little bit 'cold' (not so friendly), this could be improved to make yr stay perfect

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I travel frequently to Bolzano on business and this was my second stay in the Stadt hotel Citta. There is nothing actually wrong with the hotel - the outside is beautiful, it is clean, it has an interesting cafe attached to it, the location is good, etc. It is just pretty uninspiring and very bare bones. The rooms have little decoration, no minibar, only desk chairs and the TV choice is very limited. Plenty of good restaurants on Walther Platz and the shopping is, of course, superb. Breakfast was good - but you expect that in Italy. There are other hotels that I would choose first, were they not full.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the square.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We traveled to Bolzano to visit its very nice Christmas market and fortunately chose to stay at the Stadt Hotel Citta. It is right on Walther square and in fact our room overlooked the market. The location was so good that we hardly noticed our room which was actually very nice as well. Parking was not a problem once we found the underground parking facility which is the only alternative available. Parking is quite pricey (18 Euros per day) but if you want this location it is worth it. The breakfast was very good and the overall service was more than adequate. I have stayed in other more expensive hotels in Bolzano and prefer the Stadt Citta. Bolzano and this hotel are both well worth visiting especially during the Christmas season.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the square. Noise was not a problem

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

We only spent one night at the Stadt Citta, but I'm glad we stumbled upon this hotel. The outside of the hotel is very classic looking which makes the rooms a bit of a surprise since we found it to be much more contemporary and stark by comparison to the exterior. My wife and I stayed in a triple (because that was all that was available) and we joked that we were back in college staying in a dorm room. Our room had three identical single beds all lined up in a row, each with a simple white down comforter and very puffy pillow. Alongside each bed was a small built-in reading light. The only other furniture was a utilitarian stand-alone closet and simple dresser/desk combo. Everything in the room was white with the exception of an orange accented graphic painted behind the dresser area which gave the effect of a hospital room. Yes, I know that sounds bad, but really it wasn't... although it's my opinion that some art or a rug would have warmed the room up nicely. I haven't slept in a single bed for many years and despite my feet barely hanging over the edge (people over 6' beware!) the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also very stark, but had all of the required necessities and was extremely clean! The breakfast buffet is great and they have a large selection to chose from: breads, meats cheeses, eggs, cereal, juices and very good coffee. I would say my favorite thing about this hotel is the perfect location and the absolutely amazing view from the rooms in the front of the hotel and from the outdoor terrace where drinks and food are served. The patio is the perfect place to relax and watch people crossing through the pedestrian Walther Square. Unfortunately, we did not have an opportunity to utilize the spa, but some other guests we talked with at breakfast absolutely raved about it. The hotel did not charge for their wireless which was a pleasant surprise and they also validated our parking in the underground lot which is literally a 1 minute walk from the hotel's front entrance. We enjoyed our brief stay at the Stadt Citta and would stay there again, although next time we would plan in advance and request a room with a king bed.

Room Tip: Request a room in the front of the hotel overlooking Walther Square - the view is beautiful!
