“A very nice blend of Southern Tirol and Italian cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

This restaurant, which is located in an old city house, with the dining rooms spanning three floors, offers Southern Tirol cuisine with an Italian flare. The pasta dishes are distinctively Italian, with an original choice and mix of ingredients, while the meat dishes are for the most part Tirolean. The deserts are superbly made. Service was good and friendly. Prices were also fair.

“A Must Try When In Bolzano”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

I've been to Vogele approximately 15-20 times over the past few years and I keep returning because I can count on good food, original recipes mixed in with standard Southern Tirol cuisine. The atmosphere remains busy and usually noisy as Vogele is one of the more popular restaurants in Bolzano. Dining rooms are located on three floors in this antique building and the decor is southern Tirol. I prefer to dine on the ground floor dining room. In the warm summer months, I suggest sitting outside.

I appreciate the fantasy the chef exhibits in his/her menu offerings which frequently changes with whatever foods and ingredients are in season. The soups are by far some of the best in town. The pasta dishes combine regional ingredients which again highlight the kitchen's talent. Meat and wild games dishes are for the most part tasty and the quality of meat has always been tender and flavorful. While seafood dishes are available, I generally avoid them because Bolzano is not located by the sea (just one of my general rules for dining).

I recommend Vogele for a romantic dinner, a special occasion or business dinner. Reservations are recommended.

“Quite deceiving”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2011

We booked it before arriving there because during Xmas Markets places are always crowded and we wanted to be sure to have a table booked the 1st evening after the train trip.

The contact trhough the web was positive, they answered quickly, but as we asked for a table at 19,30 they said that during the December period they booked at 7 or 9 only, so we had to be there at 7.

We asked for a table at the 1st floor but we had one at the 2nd, we expected to see all the table booked but actually none was and people arrived at every hour without problems.

They have many different small rooms where the tables are so closed one to another that if someone arrives you have to move to let the other person seat; we were 4 and were given a table for 2 despite the booking and the fact we said previously it was also our wedding anniversary; we had to put all the decoratons on the table on an empty one in order to have enough place to eat!

It was so hot and so noisy; the food was good but quite expensive for what we ate.

I wouldn't come back agin in this place

Very good food and service, in one of Bolzano's most popular restaurants, located in a very old building on the via Goethe near the main shopping area.

“Interesting food, interesting place”

Great food, unpretentious but very well prepared. Traditional but with attention to details. Why do all these old houses ini sudtirol have such a bizarre arrangments of rooms and corridors?
