“Hotel at a reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012 via mobile

A hotel with a reasonable price. Location wise, you need to take a bus from the train station, Venice St. Lucia. There are restaurants nearby.
The room is big for 2 and the toilet is clean as well. The only issue is that the air-conditioner was leaking in the middle of the night but other than that, for a hotel with affordable price about SGD70 for both nights, I would recommend this hotel
for those budget travellers.

Don't pick this hotel only on the basis of the photos on the booking websites: It has fabulously designed, if only a bit small rooms. Value for money is the best you can expect.
Plus: Very close to Vittorio Venezia Square.

We stayed here for a one night-two day trip. The hotel is situated just of the square and is easy to find. Lots of trams and buses (we took bus 56 to Tabacchi) go there, takes about 15 min. The Mole Antonelliana is in walking distance as are all the rest of the attractions if you like walking. Caffe Elena is on the same square and is a nice place to have a coffee or lunch. Reception was very friendly and even offered one of our friends who was hungry a cornetto. I think we stayed in room 103...The room and bathroom were very clean. Airconditioning worked very well. No views but could see the river Po if we strained our necks. Bed might be a bit hard for some people and bed linen was fine. The shower was also good - there was basket with toothbrush/toothpaste and shower gel/shampoo, etc. Some of the tiles were loose but not a real problem for us. Breakfast was adequate, no better or worse than other hotels. Coffee was fine - good cappucino. I would recommend this hotel when you are on a budget or a short stay. It was not the most romantic hotel but I was pleasantly surprised at the service and the room was fine. It was a great deal!

What could be improved is the unfriendly sign at the breakfast table that the items are just for breakfast and not for people to take for lunch as well. Although understandable - how many people actually do this? Also the sign in the bathroom said it would change towels every three days. Maybe make it two?

The Alpi is in a great location and is a convenient walk to most of the sites and shopping (we only took a bus twice during a week there.) Hotel is a 9 Euro cab ride from the Torina Porta Nova train station. There are numerous choices of restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel.

Our room was a newly remodeled room on the 4th floor with a balcony on a quiet courtyard. The room was decent size and modern as well as a reasonable size bathroom. The hotel staff including their female manager was very helpful and knowledgable about local restaurants and sights. Staff was able to speak enough English that directions and information were not a problem.

The breakfast was first rate with a person making espressos and other coffee choices to order. Fresh baked croissants (were still warm), cheeses, meats, rolls, mellon and fruits were some of the many items they served everyday.

We would definitely plan to stay there again.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are quieter. Fourth floor rooms were recently remodeled, but understand that all we...

My room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. It was a corner room with 2 large windows. The hotel itself was quiet but, due to a celebration of the futbol team Juventus, the partying outside was a bit loud until the early morning hours.
The location was ideal for getting around the city.
The staff was kind and competent. They spoke enough English to be helpful.
Breakfast was good with plenty of variety (cereals, several breads, yogurt, fruit, cold cuts, hard boiled eggs) and freshly made coffee. Juice and milk were also available.
My only complaint was the wireless internet was not functional. Had to use the wired connection. Internet was my only way to connect with my family back in the US, so it was quite important.
Nearby restaurants I would recommend: Porto di Savona and La Spada Reale. The food at both places was delicious and both outdoor and indoor dining options were available. The service was also friendly and professional.
Also, visit the Information Center near Palazzo Madama. The staff there was VERY helpful in planning my trip.
Restaurant I would avoid: Baratti & Milano - it's overrated in the literature - the staff was condescending and my sandwich was mush.

The hotel is tired but clean. The beds were comfortable but the linen not really a 3 star standard. There is parking but don't expect to get your car out or in easily. The staff will help but dont expect a warm initial reception.
There was no mention of the renovation that was occurring - but the noise was not too bad. The breakfast was served using plastic and very restrictive - shame that they could not provide decent coffee to soften the blow.

Unfortunately we didn't have a very good stay. We arrived to be told that we couldn't park under the hotel as we hadn't pre-booked a space (perhaps this was our fault) so we had to park up the road. We had to carry our bags up to the 3rd floor as the lift was being used by workmen. Our room was only a couple of meters away from the reception desk which meant we could hear other customers until quite late. We went to go for breakfast in the morning to be told that we would have to wait for 15 minutes as the breakfast room was full of customers, breakfast itself was poor. On the plus side the lady who served us breakfast was very friendly and the location was ideal for walking to the centre.

Perhaps we were just unlucky as the other reviews suggest the hotel was nice.
