“A reasonable stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2011

We (2 adults and 2 children) stayed in the hotels on two Saturdays in February. The hotel is in a quite location out of town, but is very convenient for travelling to and from the North (Aosta, Mt. Blanc tunnel). The tram takes about 15 minutes to get to town, but there is no Tobacchi around to get a ticket and you must have a ticket before boarding the tram! Auchon hypermarket, shopping centre and Macdonald are about two big blocks away. The room is the Novetel standard and is clean. One of the beds in our room has a missing plank and we have to be careful when sitting on it. The breakfast is good and plentiful. The Play station in the children area is very popular with children. WIFI in the room did NOT work and the Reception let us use the Mac in the Internet area free for 20 minutes. It is nice, but not as convenient as free WIFI in the room. The secured parking area costs 12 euro per night.

Overall, we had a good stay and will stay there agin.

The bed was the worse one I have every slept in, it felt like there forgot to add a matress. I have stayed in many Novotel's over the past years and months and this was one of the worse I have stayed in. The check out was extreamly slow, due to the speed of the pc but the staff were ok

Rooms and service are very good.
Unfortunately I got problems with internet access.
Restaurant is looking good, but food could be better.

It is true that many of these new chain hotels lack charm and personality, however we found the Novotel to be spotlessly clean, large and airy and provided more than adequate services for a short trip. The hotel is just a short taxi ride from the airport (approx 30 euro) and situated just north of the city. It is easy to come and go, and offers a great base to tour from. There is a tram stop at the end of the road, and I would advise buying a Torino card (20 euros 48hrs) Available at reception - this covers all your transport and entrances to museums. It makes the trip simple. The city is easy to get around by either foot bus or tram. Food and drink a large part of any Italian city break, and make sure you enjoy Aperitivo! - drinks and snacks in any bar from 7pm! - nibbles included in the price of your drink! For a more formal meal - I would strongly recommend Caffe Torino - just on the Piazza San Carlo. An attraction all on it's own! - and before lunch, try a traditional Bicerin in the same named cafe in piazza della consolata..

The hotel served as a great base, and what it lacks in charm and character, more than makes up for in simplicity, functionality and friendliness.

I would definately recommend a stay here to give you a fantastic stay (and view of the Alps)

We stayed one night here en route to Verona to see the opera. The male receptionist who had the physique and manner of a bouncer asked for our passports with the finesse more suited to a Soviet border guard. The first room we were given had faulty air conditioning and it took a while for another room to be arranged.
On the positive side the rooms were large, the pool pleasant with a very courteous attendant and the location good for parking. We took a tram into the centre of town from the nearby stop. This was the first Novotel that we have stayed in and on balance we prefer the Ibis brand of this chain and the receptionist involved needs to brush up on his people skills.

This Novotel is pretty far from the center of town but with a car, not really a problem. The rooms are spacious and clean but the beds were terrible. You can feel and hear the springs moving around underneath you. My wife and I had a terrible night sleep from that.

The one comment to make was that some of the front desk staff was rude. Anything you asked for was made to be like a personal favor to them. They did deliver though, it just was not a pleasant experience.

Restaurant selection was very limited and very expensive - but good food.

The pool was not in service when we were there which was bad although was suppose to be running again by July 24th.

Most Novotel's have wireless for free but this one had wireless that you had to pay for, 15 Euros an hour. They did say that if you had a network cable that is was possible to connect but they would not provide any. Very odd.
