“Ideal for Three”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012 via mobile

Situated on edge of city centre this jewel caters well to North American tastes. Big shower. Room 201 has 2 levels, ideal for sleeping three. Overlooks pretty garden courtyard. Quiet. If you need anything (eg coffee, tea, face cloths), just ask at front desk. Good continental breakfast. Excellent value. Parking available.

We were only in Turin for a weekend and on a tight schedule so we chose this hotel because it was a reasonably priced 4 star hotel right next to Porta Susa, which has the fast train and stops for the coaches to the airport and is also close to the centre of the city. Everything was satisfactory about this hotel but no more, it feels like it was done up in the 90's with the bold colours, angular wooden effects on the doors and coloured flouescent tube lighting. It could be considered retro were it not for the fact that it's getting a bit tatty around the edges. Our room was large but on the top floor with tiny slit windows and the light bulbs had been replaced with very chep energy saving bulbs which took an eternity to come on and still didn't add much brightness to our darkly painted room. Breakfast was fair but no better, but the staff were friendly and happy to offer advice on how to get around and where to go. I wasn't disappointed but I wouldn't chose to stay again either.

We stayed here for a weekend break, the hotel is very well placed to tour the city. The staff were very courteous, helpful and available. The rooms are very well designed, ours had a second floor which made the sleeping area very large, leaving downstairs as a very roomy lounge. Buffet style breakfast was varied and plentiful. Would highly recommend this hotel for any length of stay.

Stayed here for a couple of nights in July. As per previous postings the decor is a little different. That said it was comfortable, well located for the centre of town and the reception staff were friendly and efficient. Would consider staying here again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2011

We stayed here with my parents for two nights in June and got the coach from Milan Malpensa airport virtually to the door. It is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Turin but in a nice neighbourhood, with a couple of great (and very reasonable) restaurants just around the corner, away from the main street.
Check in was quick and easy and both double rooms were a good size, but for some reason the walls were painted battleship grey, which just made them seem really dark and dingy - when outside it was 30 degrees and bright sunshine. The decor of the entire hotel is similarly 'modern' in style, but plain old magnolia would be far more welcoming. There was also a good step up to the bed in both rooms: one to beware of if getting up to pop to the loo in the dark!
Breakfast was fine - continental with eggs to boil yourself should you wish to do so, and plenty of choice.
I would happily stay here again if i needed to be in Turin.

we had booked 3 nights at hotel dock milano and unfortunately the lady in our room was ill and couldn't leave so we had 1 night at the best western instead for no extra cost. staff were friendly and helpful but it was quite disappointing considering its a 4*. the room was very busy and cramped and not nicely decorated and needed a good clean. the breakfast was nice.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2010

The Best Western Hotel City is ideally situated close to the Porta Susa train station and underground stop. Stayed in a standard double room - solid room, nothing fancy. Room had sky satellite television, free Wi-Fi, room safe and small refrigerator that contained the minibar. The room was air-conditioned, but it didn't work well. Breakfast was basic with breads, fruit, yogurt and some cold cuts with the opportunity to soft boil eggs. There are a couple of good places to eat that are very close to the hotel as well as a Carrefour express grocery store across the street from the hotel.
