“Simply outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

This was a wonderful little church, with an unusual set of oval areas. While we were there a service was proceeding, so we didn't manage to look around as much as we would have liked. Still, it was extremely interesting to see the silver Madonna with a gold crown. Overall, very well worth the visit if you are anywhere near downtown. One of the great Turin churches.

“amazing church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

don't forget to take a quick tour of the right wings (about 30 meteres at the right of the entrance) to see all the grazie (paintings made by people who thanks the Madonna for being survived a dangerous situation)

“So unexpected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

This must be the most unusually shaped church we have visited. You enter in the middle of a longish oval and then move forward into a hexagonal, marble-clad sanctum. There's a sunken chapel on the south side with framed military epaulettes on the walls above it. Don't miss the votive pictures in other areas to the right of the alter. These illustrations constitute touching folk art as well as reflecting the prayers of the pious.

“Turin's Home Church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Although there are many churches in Turino, Consolata is the sort of "home church" that everyone goes to when the going gets tough. We happened to be there at a time when the statue of Mary and Jesus was ready to be paraded through the streets. The "float" and the high alter were decorated and on high display. Mass was underway (it is an active church) so our ability to discretely walk through the church was limited. A very historic and important church for folks in Turin - it is worth a walk and immediately across is Al Bicirin.

“A jewel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

We were unprepared for the beauty of this spectacular church. It is so plain on the outside, without the usual crowds milling about, that one could almost be forgiven for deciding not to go in. Don't make that mistake!! This is not to be missed. An wonderful example of the spectacular baroque embellishments that the Italian churches are known for, on entering one is surprised how few people are there. Not many tourists, more devotees who seem to be regulars. The morning we went, a service started which was wonderful to hear and watch.

After the visit to the church, the little cafe called Il Biccerin, directly opposite in the square, is the place to go and have a Biccerin- hot coffee and chocolate served in a glass with cream floating on top! Totally delicious!
