“Forgettable and definitely not worth the $$”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

I have to say that I've had the worst meal here in my travels to Italy. The place its cute and quirky, if you like to eat with an assortment of Snow White 7 dwarfs and gnomes staring at you. I like gnomes so I thought it was cool.
Their meat tartar is disgusting, and I love tartar but it look totally unappetizing sort of a blob of dog food out of a can. Their gnocchi had no flavor what so ever. The servers were constantly rushing us through our meal, which I thought it was very rude, but in a sense it was for the best because i couldn't wait to get out of there. Granted we were a large group and it's possible that they wanted us out to accommodate more patrons.

“Delicious food in gnome-filled restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Excellent food. with the standouts being a very good beef fillet with a rich sauce of fresh porcini mushrooms and a delicious anchovy garlic dip. Very wide menu with several twists on the ubiquitous Italian classics, attentive staff (who kindly got us a non-alcoholic version of the complimentary aperitif and a non-raw meat version of the free appetiser) and quirky design - garden gnomes on each table. Only drawback is that there's no view of the glorious Lake Orta. There's a 10 percent discount for guests of the Hotel Aracoeli, which is part of the group that owns the hotel.

“Delicioso so! ! !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

Loved our meal here. Attentive service. Tasty food, and yes, the place is a bit "quirky." As others have stated, "one can eat quite well at Ristorante Olina." Loved it.

“Enjoyable meal - fine service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

My hotel recommended this small restaurant in the heart of this charming lakeside town. Decor is modern; and at first glance the menu looked somewhat pretentious, and limited - I wondered what could make a plate of linguine with butter-sage sauce worth $17., even after the waitress assured me that it was home-made and uniquely fine. But then the dishes appeared, along with a couple of freebees, and everything proved to be of very high quality, including a fine (and remarkably inexpensive) barbaresco that bears the restaurant's own label. In the end, the bill for this most enjoyable meal seemed very reasonable; and the locals seem to agree: though the town itself was pretty dead this rain-swept evening, Ristorante Orlina was full.

“Very Pleasant dining!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012

If you are lucky enough to be in Lago d'Orta, well then mediocre food can almost be forgiven, but fortunately, you can eat quite well at this lovely, little, somewhat quirkily decorated restaurant. We popped in at 8 pm without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. If we had arrived at 8:20 I think we would have been out of luck! Four of us dined; we all had apps, pasta and a main course. Everything was delicous and the portions were uncharacteristically large by Italian standards. The pesce spada (swordfish) was excellent as was the gnocci carbonara and gnocci with gorgonzola, pass on the homemade tagliatelle with sage and butter; it was BORING. Service was efficient and professional. We were too full to indulge in dessert. We brought our own wine so can't comment on the wine list either. It doesn't have a view but when do you get good food with a view?
