“What a cuppa!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

After going to investigate this amazing building, we found it to be one of the best known hotels in Northern Italy. Being bold and full of confidence we sat in the gardens and ordered a pot of tea.....The waiting staff treated us as if we had ordered a meal and a weeks stay. They were welcoming and polite and the tea was delicious too.

“simply superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We took the chef's recommendation of Italy North to South with accompanying wine. Every dish was superbly prepared and well served. Expensive - yes ; but worth it for the experience, especially for a special occasion.

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

I had grilled octopus on a slab of watermelon and then pasta with whole baby squid. Stunning.
Everything from the view across the garden, the crazy decoration to the attentive and knowledgeable wait staff was excellent. My wife is vegetarian and they provided her with a separate veggie menu. (try the liquid pizza if your a veggie ).
After lunch...the bar is very cool for a drink or coffee.....or stroll in the garden. Loved it. Will be back for sure.

“Great chef, great food, with some due improvements”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

Great the choice of ingredients and the approach of the chef to cuisine, with personality but without putting the chef-experience in front of the food-experience. Very balanced and elegant! Highlight on the red shrimp and veal's head with celery mayonnaise, one of the top dishes I have eaten in 2013 around the world. I have some observations on service, for due improvement. In my opinion better training is needed to have staff more prepared to respond on substantial issues and give less priority to showing sophisticated posture. The only well prepared person to provide info about the menu (origin of ingredients, background on dishes, etc.) was the sommelier, but he was toomuch requested at all the tables and showed to be under pressure and not having time. The lack of knowledge by waiters about the impressive cheese selection, for example, was notable. Another observation is about the fact that the wine-pairing selection is not at the level you would expect in such a restaurant. Finally, on hot summer days you must be prepared to sweat a bit, but this is a price to pay for being in a wonderful historical location that does not allow a modern air-con system to be installed, so they use some mobile machines which are not always enough for the high-temp days. So, it is worth to slightly suffer for this!

“Two Star Michelin Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Service is impeccable and the food exciting and different from the usual Italian fare. The additional items like the amuse bouche and the breads and the sweet treats are almost a meal in themselves! Plan to stay the night!
