“Typical Piedmonties cuisine with a plus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

I had dinner with 10 collegues in "Angolo del Beato".
It is a restaurant of my home town but it was long time I was not having dinner there.

First I want to highlight the warmfull and polite reception. This was not a postive characteristics in the past of this restaurant.

The restaurant is in an ancient building ('500) with a coffered, wooden ceiling.

Then the food. We started with the typical Piedmont cuisine selection of appetizer: salsiccia di Bra (raw veal sausage), insalata russa, hot vegetable flan with fonduta (cheese dressing) and a wonderfull salade of artichokes with parmesan cheese.

The first dish: tajarin (pasta) with cime di rapa (a vegetable). Wonderful, at the same time sour and spicy.

A negative comment: the wine. We asked for a bottle of Barbera Superiore, typical and local. They could bring a better one definetly.

Coffe and complinetary dessert (cakes and torrone) for 45€

“Great apparence but what a delusion!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012 via mobile

The place is great, smart, fashionable, design, so when you get in you expect to have un unforgettable dinner. Then you get the greatest delusion: you get ordinary food, merely "poured into the dish", really nothing special and very far away from Piemonte's very food tradition. The bill really high. When we got out we were really angry, all a fake! We won't go there anymore

“The Best Langhe Restaurant !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

I have been bringing friends to L'Angolo Del Beato Restaurant for the past 16 years. It is always the Best Langhe Culinary Experience !!! Full Stop !!!. The restaurant had moved from the original, previous location to the current one just 2 years ago. Both locations are great, although I have preferred the previous one just a bit over the current one. The owner is charming, always helping with a selection of dishes and recommendations of wines. Menu is very proper for the location (Asti in Piemonte). During fall season there are fresh white truffles served over traditional Piemontese dishes (heaven in the mouth). Prices are reasonable, but if you chose to add truffles, your bill will be proportionately higher (4 people = full dinner + white truffles + 2 bottles of wine = 650 EURO). This is not expensive; just ruffles would cost around 350 EURO.
The interiors are charming, ancient, but very tastily renovated - just perfect for a romantic dinner.

“The real italian food in the real italian place...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

The dining-room is large and comfortable, set with wonderful starched white tablecloths..."tradizione" as we like it !
The food is excellent, from the original local appetizers, to the marvellous pasta (and what a variety of them !)...you can see, through the glass door, the "nona" age 90+ preparing the most delicious "agnolotti"... The meat choice was difficult to pick out of, and we ended with a marvellous selction of desserts ! And what about the wines : a large selection of wines, from simple to the very best (we had Gaja...) at reasonable prices ! Don't ask for more ! A very good choice, with attentive service from the owner and his son !

“Food very good but service long and not very friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

The hotel recommended this restaurant to us so we went. Piemontes food and very good quality.Especially the meat was excellent! Nice meal but..... why was the "owner" (??) so helpful for the locals whom he knew and "grumpy" to us.
We had to wait very long because they were serving the locals first.. They all got an explanation about the specialties but not us "the tourists". It took so long that we skipped desert and asked for coffee.
When I finally got it I was fed up and told him! Our Italian is excellent by the way! He couldn't take this criticism! What a pity when you have such a nice restaurant. We will not go again.
