Phil and Ingrid are very special people who have worked immensely hard to make their home a comfortable and fabulous place to stay. The setting is beautiful, and P&I are immensely knowledeable about wine, winemaking, and the many places to visit near and far. They are also calm and patient in a crisis which was most days as I couldn't navigate or, it seemed drive However, I am excellent at singing in the car and improvisation - as are they.
This is a wonderful place to relax and explore this beautiful region.

Our second stay at Vecchio Podere proved to be just as comfortable, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable as our first. Phil and Ingrid are the perfect hosts, making everyone feel welcome, special and nothing is too much trouble. From the first welcome drink in their magnificent farmhouse to a rousing slap up meal washed down with a few glasses of "Piano Piano" - it's the perfect holiday destination....we'll be back.

We enjoyed our stay with Ingrid and Phil very much. We (2 parents + 2 kids) stayed in their Barbera apartment which has 2 spacious bedrooms and a not too big but comfortable kitchen/living room.

We were welcomed in a very friendly way and really appreciated the "Welcome kit" (bread, milk, coffee, tea, water etc.) to overcome the first day and night.

Phil and Ingrid manage to find a good balance between taking care of their guests on one hand and letting them enjoy the quietness on the other. We all loved the pool with its beautiful views on Piedmont and the Alps in the background.

If you need advice about which places to visit or where to have dinner, Phil and Ingrid are happy to come up with many ideas and even book your table if you're not fluent in Italian.

A guided tour by Phil through his vineyards is very interesting and highly recommended!

Phil and Ingrid own a beautiful renovated farmhouse with a nice swimming pool with astonishing views over vineyards and the snow covered Alps. We rented an apartment with kitchen, living room, bathroom and two bedrooms which was enough space for a family with three young kids. The apartment is modern, clean and properly equipped with kitchen tools, towels and with satellite television/DVD player with a collection of DVD's. You don't have time to watch these as also their own produced wines and other local wines are stocked in the apartment and waiting to be opened. We spend a lot of time on the small terrace in front of the house discussing which bottle to open next. During the day we visited numerous beautiful churches in the small villages in the area or we were cycling, swimming or hiking. The area is excellent for cycling at all levels (race biking as well as mountainbiking). The rest of the time available we were eating and drinking and food in the area is as they say in the travel guide books: superb! In particular in the agriturismo's one can eat and drink quality food and wine with the entire family for 60-80 euros and come out of these agriturismo's in a pleasant mood. Try the blue painted agriturismo on the hill in St stephano belbo (the village next to cannelli). They served us ~5-6 antipasti dishes, before the first, second and third main course. All this was completed with a cheese plateau and a selection of cakes. I still don't understand where all the Italians in this agriturismo left this huge amount of quality food (they were quite big actually but still it is almost an Olympic sport to finish all dishes and I didn’t manage). All restaurants in the area prepare excellent meals by the way. Ask Phil for a tour around his vineyards in the afternoon as this boost your knowledge on wine production. After the tour we had the opportunity to taste and acquire some more quality wines before we lightened the bbq. We definitely recommend Phil and Ingrid’s appartments for anyone who likes to relax and want to take it piano piano for a week.
