We had two meals here - one dinner and one lunch on consecutive days in January 2014. Restaurant Sarla is a purely Indian restaurant on Via Stampa about half a km from the Milan Duomo. The best way to get here is to get on Via Torino from the Duomo and after about half a km take a left and its less than 100 metres from there.
After a lot of Italian stuff we came to Sarla to try Indian food. We are vegetarians. They closed at 2 30 pm in the afternoon and we arrived at 3 pm so found it closed. In the evening we were on time and ordered a Navratan Kurma. The vegetable seemed a little bland. However the naan was very fresh. The meal was expensive since they levy a Euro 3 per person coperto (cover charge). So for two people its Euro 6 before you even order a meal. The cost came up to Euro 27 which I felt was expensive for how much we ate. Also the taste was average.
The next afternoon we came in for lunch and decided to have their fixed veg thali option. The thali was priced at Euro 14 per person but included starters, one naan, two vegetables, rice, dal, salad - much more than enough for any person. The subzi included was Alu and Palak Paneer and since I did not like Palak Paneer they were happy to make another subzi for us. We appreciated that. Overall the food was good this time round with only the samosa starter being slightly bland. For the lunch menu there is no coperto (cover charge)
Mr. Padam was there to serve us and he was courteous and helpful. The restaurant had fine ambiance and the kitchen was open which always adds comfort regarding quality. Overall I would recommend this restaurant if bored of Italian food on your trip to Milan.
