“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

We stayed there for 1 night in September, on our last night of 2 weeks in Italy.

Pros:
- walkable distance to Dome and other nearby locations
- upon checking as members of SLH we were upgraded to Junior suite which was on the top floor, had a lovely outdoor terrace

Cons:
- car parking was in a neighborhood of 30EUR per day, which we only found out when checking out of the hotel
- breakfast is served in the dark basement, very average, especially for the price
- internet in the room didn't work. We had to call front desk twice to inquire about it. After the second time we were told it doesn't work with Apple computers and the only way we can use internet is downstairs in the lobby. So, if you have Mac, iPhone, iPad - be prepared to sit downstairs
- on a day when we checked in they had a photo shoot going downstairs in the lobby, so there was nowhere to sit, every time we wanted to get in/out of elevator, we had to climb over a model and cameras. It felt like we were always in their way intruding, nobody even apologized to us
- I wouldn't normally mention something like that, but for 300EUR a night we were disappointed that wine glasses in the room not only didn't match, but half of them had IKEA logos

Doubt we will be staying there again, there are plenty over hotels in Milan who offer better service and make their customers welcome.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We recently spent 4 nights over half-term at this lovely, small hotel. We had 2 junior suites which were both of a very good size. Each suite had it's own kitchenette but no cutlery or crockery, so not sure what you would use it for. Tea and coffe making facilites were provided, which was good, but we did need to ask for extra milk, which was readily supplied. The rooms are well decorated and the cleaning was exemplary, everywhere was spotless. We upgraded to have robes, slippers and toiletries, the toiletries we used were replaced every morning. The service of the staff here is excellent but un-obtrusive. Breakfast was not good, there was little for us to eat, bread, jam and croissants really, if you get there early enough! Once we searched and found 2 packets of cornflakes but they were not replaced. There is a lot of traffic noise, but slightly better if shutters are closed! Location is very good though.

Room Tip: I think rooms on higher floors may get less traffic noise.

The room was comfortable, well furnished and welcoming, with fruit, robes and slippers. Situated a 10 minute walk from Duomo and the shops, with a tram link outside the hotel. This hotel only missed a 5 star rating as wifi coverage in rooms was sporadic and the breakfast was very basic. Wonderful staff helped us with evening restaurants, transport and tours and we were very impressed with their recommendations. Would definitely stay here again.

Milan is an expensive city, so be prepared to pay inflated prices for everything. We happened to visit over the weekend of the Monza Grand Prix and the tail end of Fashion week so most places were crowded. Make sure you visit the Duomo and if you want to see Leonardo's Last Supper book your tickets months in advance as you will not get in otherwise.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 16, which although on the street side was very quiet - we had very good sleep.

Only comfortable thing was the bed. Breakfast was frankly disgusting and after the first day we ate out. Room, a suite!!, was small and dull and expensive. We asked reception when they would like us to vacate the room on our last day and they said 1200. Fine but when we returned at 1145, our luggage had been removed and the room prepared for the next unsuspecting guests. When I complained, the general manager, Gian Paolo Fumagalli, found it difficult to apologise and marched off after a few minutes. The "destination management company", Mizar, really did live up to their name. Truly Mizarable.

About the room you reserved. I checked with my reservation department and you asked for a junior suite and not for a suite.
Mr Fumagalli apologize for what happened that was a misunderstanding between you, the receptionist and the porter but we cannot give a big discount for a misundersting under the threat of a review on Tripadvisor.

We stayed here the last night of a 2+ week trip. There are only 18 rooms in this all suite hotel. It is charming and pretty well located - a 10 minute walk from the Duomo. It does not stack up to other hotels where we have stayed on this trip in terms of service, overall experience. For instance, when we discovered there is a month lead time to see The Last Supper, it would have been nice to have been informed as such when we made the reservation here, well more than a month ago. But breakfast was good and, other than street noise at night, no major complaints.

Room Tip: Away from street, if possible

Great location! Very helpful staff. Lorenzo and David were very accommodating as were the rest of the staff we came in contact with.
We stayed at this small hotel on two different occasions on a recent trip to Italy. The first visit, we stayed in room ten. This was a spacious room on the corner of the building. It was very quiet given it was street front.
The room was very clean and comfortable.
The second stay was in room seven. The room was smaller but still fine for two people. Unfortunately, the a.c. had been turned off for the season and the room got too warm. Opening the windows was not an option because of the traffic noise and exhaust fumes. There was more noise from neighboring rooms.
Breakfast was ok but not what you'd expect from a SLH, however, we'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the ends of hallways to avoid sounds from neighbors.

Small, but comfortable, with a mini-kitchenette and dining table and writing table. The room has nice, period furnishings creating a sense of old-world Milan.

The location close to the Duomo makes for a convenient base for touring. The pleasant staff contributes to a nice stay. Good Internet-connectivity.

The room was quiet. The breakfast buffet offered a generous variety of fruit, breads, Danish, cereals, juices and fabulous coffee.
