“Funky, amazing and cool place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2011

Booked at the Nhow Milano for a New Year's city break for three days with fiance and we had the time of our life at this cool trendy place in the south of Milano, in the Navigli District. The hotel was cool, colourful, staff very friendly, great KUDOS to the barman Alessandro for his great cocktails and to his colleague on Dec. 31st (Hope your back feels better!). The rooms were cosy and amazingly decorated, beds super comfy, wet room for a shower with great lighting as well, breakfast HUGE and DELICIOUS! We did not sample the restaurant as the hotel was kinda quiet so it was closed and the prices for cocktails at the bar was a "bit" expensive but great value for money as we booked in advance for a reasonable 87 euros per night for two so it's worth it if you feel like splurging on yourselves. We left at a very silly hour on morning of Jan. 1st but even then we had a breakfast box made ready from the staff when we left!

Interior decoration was funky and modern, contemporary theme all over the place and colour! Don't expect it to look like standard 70's Milano hotels! Okay, it's a bit far off from the center of town (10 min. walk to Porta Genova metro/train station and 10 min trip to Centrale FS) but it's really worth it as you are 15 mins away from the old Canal District, namely Navigli, filled with cool little restaurants and bars. Definitely will come back to this hotel if in Milano ever again!

I stayed at this hotel for a business trip because it was conveniently located for my meetings, but I was not impressed by the business center and services, as there were several problems and operations were not very smooth. If on a leisure trip, I would choose some place more centrally located, closer to the Duomo.

As for the design, it is very modern and designy, but not in a way that makes you enjoy it. Most of the people I travelled with found it oppressive and unpleasant.

We also had issues with the noise, as there was a party in the hotel (week night), it was already past midnight, and the noise was so loud, you could hear everything. The staff at the reception neither seemed to care nor to be particularly bothered by complaints.

For both business and leisure, I would recommend going somewhere else, as there are many other hotels with better service and a better location in the city.

This is a very unusual hotel and we loved staying there. Every floor is like an art gallery and they have very unusual funky furniture. It is a bit out of the way but if you turn right when you leave it and go to the end of Via Tortona and over a railway bridge (about 10 mns) you will arrive in a very lively left banky quarter with good bars and lots of restaurants and a canal. The staff are not extra charming and make a bit of a do about printing out boarding cards but they are professional. No point drinking in the bar. Breakfast is excellent. They charge 18 euro for internet access altho I think it is free in the lobby. They should make it free and charge less for their drinks and guests would invite friends there for pre dinner drinks.

You get a 14 tram to city centre or a metro from the end of via Tortona, You have to buy the tickets for the tram in the Tabacci shop on the way to the tram stop . The restaurant in No 1 Via Tortona is really excellent (about 50 euros for dinner including excellent wine) . It i s good authentic Italian food and there are no foreigners there and limited Engllish is spoken. It was recommended to us by an Italian and the clientielle looked like professional Italians.

The hotel is over the top, and completely made of plastic - so I'm not surprised at teh reviews saying it is aging fast.
However it's focus on being fashioanable doesn't detract from it being a good place to stay. A really great breakfast, good facilities in teh room and generally and large comfortable rooms are all good.
It is a pain to get to by public transport, as it's about 10/15mins from the metro

The rooms were in a really bad condition. See attached photos. It was surprising because it is relatively new. Paint on walls was peeling, bath mirror broken, panel broken and peeled, lights in room not working, etc. in addition, quite far from the center. For sure, not a walking distance.
The only good thing I have to say is with regard to the impressive breakfast.
And- there is a very nice restaurant near by- "Boccino"
