“Massive Castle; great for a leisure stroll”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2014 NEW

This castle is huge; I really enjoyed taking my time walking through the grounds. There are also museums within the building but I did not have time to visit. The castle is in Parco Sempione which just makes for a great walking day :)

“It's nice to be the Duke of Milan!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2014 NEW

An impressive pile of masonry from any angle, this castle dropped my jaw at 500 paces! It is humungous and in very good nick. I tried to imagine what Leonardo's famous but unfinished equestrian statue would have looked like inside the main courtyard but I was too distracted by the scale of the Castello itself. It makes Windsor castle look like an Australian outback dunny (toilet). A guided tour is recommended unless you've already done your homework. Leave yourself plenty of time to see this place, you won't be disappointed. It's only 5 euro to get in but you'd be better off getting a Museocard if you're in Milan for a while. The Castello is closed on Mondays and is well served by Milan's efficient public transport system. The Linacoteca is not to be missed.

“Guided tour around the castle”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2014 NEW

Took a guided tour recently for "The Last Supper" which has included the walking tour for this castle as the first part of the tour. It was an added bonus to find out from the tour guide about the history of the castle including its original purpose as the residence of Visconti family and also it's subsequent military use. There is a fountain in front of the main gate which seems has become the gathering place for many tours as well as a good spot for photos. There is a large and scenic park with a long walk to the Peace Arch (Arco Della Pace) to celebrate for Napolean.

Sad to say I did not manage to cover the Museum of Ancient Art in the castle and missed a glimpse into the last sculpture for Michelangelo in this trip as it was closed on Monday.

“Great place to visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2014 NEW

The park around the castle has excellent landscape for amazing photos. Enormous castle. We went on Monday and so the museum in the castle was closed. They could have one or two rooms open every day with permanent exhibitions (like medieval exhibitions). Other than that, it is an excellent place

“Only saw it from the outside but beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2014 NEW via mobile

Just visited to take a look and found it a very pretty castle with nice gardens for a stroll. Not essential viewing but very pleasant.
