“Great place to stay in Milan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

I've stayed at the Lancaster several times now and have always had a great experience. Every person on the staff is friendly, helpful, and good at what they do. The rooms are nice, very clean, and comfortable and the location can't be beat. I see some recent reviews about the WiFi service. I notice on this trip that the service has been changed and it is now performs much better. I've been able to do several long international Skype calls without interruption. I love the people in this hotel as they always are so nice and I highly recommend staying here. A few times I've arrived very late and they've fixed me a sandwich or slept too late and they still find me good coffee! I'm in Milan about 4 times per year now and stay only in Hotel Lancaster.

stayed here for 2 nights during winter. reception staff are very friendly and helpful, hotel is clean and breakfast is very nice. good location, walking distance to everything.

only downside is Wi-Fi, it did not work for the whole time i was there. this seems to be a common problems with hotel in europe.

Overall, nice hotel and definitely would stay again.

Our quick family overnight stay was very comfortable and pleasing. Service was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Great location with easy access. We had inter connecting rooms which were nicely appointed , clean, good pillows with large bathrooms which is great when you are travelling with the family. Breakfast was simple but yummy. Well worth the price and would highly recommend .

I got the special deal for internet access that was unavailable the whole time I was there. The rooms were small like Paris and mine was very dark. The bathroom was large and clean. Staff very helpful. Coffee was lukewarm every day. Not sure I would come back.

Plus points :
- Great location just a couple of minutes from the Arco della Pace (near the Movida). Only 15mn walk to the Castle and 25 to the Duomo.
- Huge renovated rooms (some with balcony). Even though on the street and on the 2nd floor, the room is quiet.
- Very clean.
- Adorable reception staff.
- Nice breakfast.
- Cheap for Milano.
Minus points :
- NONE!

Room Tip: Room 223 is great (with Balcony)

There was no wifi for 4 days and on checkout after an argument I was told I could have a 9 euro discount when the discounted price "saved 108 Euros". A disappointing end to my stay. If you pay for a hotel with a pool in the expectation of using it and its not available then you wouldn't expect to pay the full price. They couldn't get that concept and for me WiFi is the most important thing.

Be aware the Trip advisor "discount" of 36 euros per night is only because of free WiFi which we did not get. In the hotel it says 3.50 euros a day for wifi so I'm not sure where the 36 Euro saving comes from.

The previous reviews about this being the best hotel in Italy perhaps raised our expectations. Reception was helpful, rooms clean and breakfast better than expected. I think it is a bit of a hike into town to the Duomo so we took the tram. The rooms are small, dark and stuffy, perhaps usual for Milan or a big city. The TV does not cater for the international traveller, 100s of Italian and one French channel. The most important thing for me is WiFi and there was a strong signal but no service which was very frustrating. On a wet weekend in Milan this was not the best hotel to be in. To leave feeling cheated is now our memory.

Great hotel, great service and good value. Stayed on two occassions (in/out bound). A 15 minute walk from the rail station that gets you to the airport on the Malpensa Express. Some good restaurants nearby with fantastic 9Euro happy hour drink and free food (buffet).
