“Oke, but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Hotel Sanpi is well located within walking distance from the center of Milan. The rooms are clean and tidy, although they are not very big. If there is any overweight,
you can certainly not move in the bathroom. The staff is friendly. The breakfast is oke, but nothing special. For an omelette they charge 9 euro's extra. The breakfastroom in in the basement. It's not very cosy and it would have been nice to have breakfast in the garden.
Right in front of the hotel there is a nice restaurant, Il Carpaccio. Many Italians eat there: the food is fresh and not very expensive.

Dear Mrs and Mr Wadd....
,
Thank you so much for your recent stay at the Sanpi Hotel Milan and your comment into the web , we have seen that you have appreciate with an excellent vote the hotel service and team , the hotel location and the cleanness , however it seems that all the rest is average .Regarding the room size I’m so sorry for that some of our standard rooms are average size 16 sqm however many other are bigger . The breakfast served every day complimentary to all our clients is a buffet breakfast with many different kind of foods all coming from the region and fresh like eggs and croissants . Regarding omelet cost we charge it 9.00 euro because we prepare it with all kinds of food request from the clients , please consider that we use fresh food and we need also some staff time to prepare it . I personal think that our clients prefer to spend the right price for h. quality food instead to eat a cheap low quality food.
Hoping to see you soon again in Milan , I wish you a nice day.

The hotel is very central close by the train station and in walking distint to the cathedral. The room however was very small and not one that you want to spend a lot of time in. The breakfast area is also on the small side - serveral morning there was guest who had to take there breakfast outside in the garden. The garden is very sweet and it is a nice place to relax after a long day in Milan

I stayed at Sanpi Hotel for some business and I was very happy with the location, the room I was assigned (nice furniture, good size, clean and tidy). The hotel also had a very nice inside garden and in which there was also a old railway building that had been nicely restored. The hotel did not have a full service restaurant but in the area around you would not have any problem finding one. Service was generally good although some of the staff was not very experienced. The area where maybe they could improve was the buffet breakfast that was OK but nothing really special. In general I would say that I would be happy to book it again when staying in that area of Milan.

We paid more to stay here than we generally like to but it was worth it. The room was very clean and up to date. The beds were very comfortable and a quiet street made for wonderful sleeping. Many restaurants in the area and a five minute walk to the underground. This is in an Ethiopian neighborhood with great restaurants is you enjoy authentic African fare. The staff was very professional and went out of their way to make sure everything was to our liking. A fabulous breakfast. This easily compares to 4-5 star hotel in the US.

Room Tip: Our friends had a very nice room facing the garden. Next time we'll ask for one of them.

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel as it was an add on to a tour we took. It was conveniently located as we had to take a train the next morning. The staff couldn't have been nicer. They recommended a wonderful restaurant close to the hotel which we loved. The room was clean and comfortable. But the best part was I realized when I got to Zurich I had left my make-up bag with expensive products at the hotel. I e-mailed them and got an immediate response as to how they could send it to me in the US. It was all handled easily and efficiently. I'm very grateful to the staff.

The Sanpi is superbly located off the Corso Buenos Aires shopping Strip on a quiet street with little traffic. The rooms are of a reasonable size for a European metropolis with comfortable beds and generally good facilities, including excellent wi-fi reception throughout the hotel. We had 2 stays of 2 days each. Both rooms were overlooking the courtyard, and we're very quiet which helped our bodies quickly overcome any jet lag on the flight from Australia. I suspect the rooms overlooking the street are not plagued by noise either.

The breakfasts are good. The service throughout is outstanding, from the guys at the front desk led by Mark Troisi, Fabio and Julio, nothing was too much trouble. Their no-fuss attitude added a star to the hotel for us.

One of the advantages of the location is that - despite its very central location near a subway station and a 10 minute walk from the Duomo and the Station Centrale, this is a slice of real Italy, not the ultra-touristy areas surrounding the major sights (the Duomo and La Scala). The restaurant just across the road, recommended by the front - desk is a real find. We ate there (Trattoria Il Carpaccio) 3 times, and in each the food was excellently prepared from fresh ingredients and the service was friendly. Apart from the tourists from the Sanpi, this local restaurant with a simple but very attractive decor was patronised predominantly by Italians.

I should also mention the very attractive courtyard garden at which one can relax from the shopping or touring.

Two minor quibbles: there was only 1 Herald Tribune available for all the guests, though we found a Wall Street Journal of which there were only 2 for the hotel. And the street has eco me a hangout for Ethiopian young men due to the Ethiopian restaurants and phone / Internet service dives nearby. The young men going around were quiet and we'll-behaved enough, but my wife found their loitering about somewhat frightening.

Overall, the Sanpi is highly recommended.

Room Tip: We always prefer rooms facing the courtyard. Room 138 is large (though the decor is a little oppress...

Dear Mrs and Mr Gnomeas from Australia ,

Thank you so much for your stay in our Hotel in Milan , first night into the room 114 and second night into the room 138.
As you have seen the rooms are so different each other , this because we think clients are different.
Me and my team are so happy to welcome clients in our hotel every day , very often they are very happy some time so and so , however we put a lot of attention into the comment and suggestions.
Regarding the newspaper mentioned , in the past we buy more like 5 per type however very often people do not read it and we have to rubbish it , Internet free is more used by guests in general.
Regarding the area and Ethiopians people around they are about the 2 % of the whole people around and as far as I know no problem have never caused to our International guests like you are.
Looking forward to see you again , I wish you a nice day

We recently spent three nights at the Sanpi and were very happy. On our first night we had a room overlooking the street. Noise was not a problem, but the sheer curtains in the bathroom offered very little privacy. We left our two big suitcases at the Sanpi while we spent a day and a night at Como. There was no charge for this service. When we returned we asked for and were given a room overlooking the garden. This was slightly smaller than our first room, but gave much better privacy. The staff at the hotel are wonderful. They are efficient, courteous and very helpful. The hotel does not have a restaurant but a couple nearby that we tried and enjoyed were A Summer Place which is across the road, and the Delicatessen Restaurant which is in the next block. We enjoyed drinks in the beautiful garden; they were well-priced and were accompanied by a variety of complimentary snacks and nibbles. If we return to Milan we will certainly stay at the Sanpi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the garden, not the street.
