Stayed at the Windsor hotel (still there) one night, checking out early. This is supposedly four star, barely meets a 2 star standard. Rude front desk staff, beat up rooms, dingy and run down. I travel often and stay in 4 star hotels- this is not even close. Guess we got what we paid for, but their hotel website is very misleading. Don't stay here unless you are satisfied with motel 6 hotels or less.

We stayed at the Windsor Thursday through till Monday while following Scotland in Milan.
We were slightly disappointed at the hotel exterior - from the side we approached it looked quite run down. However once inside the foyer we took a lift up to our room which was both spacious and comfortable.

A large double bed, wardrobe, and desk still left plenty of space to move around. The bathroom was adequate with a powerful shower. A nice touch was the complimentary mini-bar equiped with soft drinks and water.Our room looked out onto the street and a tram line directly below, however by winding the shutter down the noise was minimum.

The attitude of the staff was excellent, they couldn't do enough from ordering and ushering you to your taxi, helping with the free internet service, and providing free bar snacks the hotel was excellent.

At a rate of 100 Euros a night the hotel was excellent value in a great location. If you are planning to visit, the "Friends" bar is a great local pub just a minute or so walk from the Windsor :-)

Great Location and Excellent Value for money - we paid 110 euro for a double room during the weekend (milan hotels are cheaper at weekends due to no businessmen around) The rate we paid, which was secured direct with the hotel via their own website, included a super buffet breakfast... I would return to this hotel although do not eat in the nearby restaurant with a blue light, it is an Egyptian run pizza parlour and the pizzas were terrible compared to the food we had in Florence.

I just got back from Italy and since I got such great help from this site I decided to write my reviews. I stayed at the Windsor 2 nights, and I am pretty happy with my experience. However after reading the other reviews, I think it is all about the price. I DID NOT pay 220 euros per night; I only pay 65 euros per night. And what I got for that money was a great value for the weekend. Hotel was clean and functional. The staff was professional; I would not say friendly, but professional and I was not there to make friends with the clerks, I just needed them to assist me and they were great at their jobs. They have a snack bar in the afternoon with water, juices and fruits in the lobby which is great when you come back from your walk. It is within walking distance form the train station, and there are plenty of places to eat around it. Also, it is a couple of blocks from the Metro, and if you like to walk it is about 20 minutes from the Duomo and La Scalla. The frigobar is also free, no alcohol, just water juices and cracker, but I thought it was nice. The best thing about it: Free High speed Internet access in your room. To me that is priceless. There is also a free internet point downstairs; most hotels in Italy charge you for the use of the Internet. Breakfast was great with selections of cold meats, cheeses, juices, cereals, fruits, and a semi hot bar. I would definitely stay there again; I would even pay a bit more if I need to do so. Overall I think that it all boils down to the fact that Milan is a business city, so during the week you will get much higher prices for the same rooms than on the weekend, therefore if you have a choice visit Milan during the weekend and if you like the comfort and efficiency of a business hotel this is a great place to stay.
