“Tasty traditional Milanese food & excellent service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2011

This is my favorite restaurant in Milan. I came across it last year when my friends were visiting. There is a gorgeous covered/enclosed back garden, making it perfect for almost all weather. The inside is air conditioned, which is a nice alternative.

The food is excellent! It is freshly prepared and the taste of each ingredient blend together to form the perfect dishes! Small wine list, but their house wine has been great (both red and white).

Along with the food, the service has been nothing short of excellent too! Maria usually serves us. She is gracious, helpful with the menu, attentive, and has a sunny personality.

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to or living in Milan. Earlier in the evening would be fine for children, but the stairs into the building would make it challenging for someone with disabilities. This is a restaurant I'd go to celebrate something important as well as simply enjoying an evening out with family &/or friends.

“behind the drab street door lies an excellent neighbourhood restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

Visited here with work colleagues as it is near our Milan office. We sat in a lovely conservatory at the rear that felt like you were in the garden. The menu has English translations for those who are unable to interpret an Italian menu and has a bias to meat dishes (on the way in you pass the kitchen which had slabs of beef on display).

We had a range of starters with no duds although the penne was a little too al dente for my taste. The mains quickly followed and were impressively large portions - I had the tagliata (thinly cut beef with rocket and parmesan shavings) which was excellent - one of the best I've had. Colleagues had a variety of steaks which were all declared pretty good though we all looked pretty jealously at the veal escalope (Milanese) one of has been prescient enough to order.

We finished off with cheese - the waiter brought us a whole round of Peccorino that had cheese scooped out of the middle and left for us to take (and scoop more if required) - just like a gigantic bucket of ice cream. Simply superb!
