“Great place to stay in Milan - Incredibly Chic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

For anyone looking for a great hotel in Milan that is 4 stars I would highly recommend this hotel. The room rates here is reasonable and for what you get it is incredibly worth it. Compared to many other hotels in Milan that are rated 4 stars (NH Milano Touring, Michelangelo Hotel, and Best Western Ascot) this is by far the best! I have stayed in all the other hotels mentioned so can compare them.

The rooms are nicely decorated and are in good condition. Amenities such as slippers are provided. The bathroom is a decent size. Some of the other hotels mentioned still have decor from the mid 1990s and the hair blow dryer in the bathroom are still the ones that have vacuum cleaner hoses.

The Uptown Hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the Duomo (Milan Cathedral) and the main shopping area (Via Montenapoleone). The hotel is located in a residential area so the rooms are quiet. Nearby the hotel there is a supermarket. Taxi fare from Milan main train station to Uptown Hotel is about Euro 10. Nearby the hotel is the metro. So if you don't want to walk to the Duomo or Montenapoleone, it is just a couple of stops away on the metro.

The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Rooms: New and clean but very small.
Breakfast - No value for money. Poor variety of food.
Wifi - Expensive and had issues in connecting
Service - Receptionists were not polite enough, i didn't like the service. The restaurant service was good.
Location - OK - 20 minutes walk from the DUOMO

The hotel is very comfortable and newly remodeled. We were given a very large room that was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The staff was helpful and accommodating and made a terrific recommendation for a restaurant. The location was close to shopping and transportation. Breakfast was vey good with cheese, meats, cereals, pastries, and other items.

This is a small boutique hotel in Milan. Couple of issues with the hotel - location. Not very close to the Duomo area. Also the rooms are really small. Breakfast spread was fine - what one would typically expect in such a hotel.

Excellent hotel, very friendly and welcoming staff. Rooms clean and very modern and a great breakfast. Great Location, 10 min walk from the Duomo area and 5 min from the closest underground. I will definitely stay there every time I am in Milan.

This hotel feels like a small boutique designer hotel. The staff always seemed helpful and friendly, in a Milanese sense of the word. The front door staff were always very pleasant. They always said 'hello' in a genuinely friendly manner and were eager to help us find a taxi or provide recommendations on good places to visit. This hotel is probably more suited to business travellers then leisure travellers. The breakfast was very good and again the staff were really friendly and helpful, they remembered exactly how we liked our coffee - these small touches made us feel welcome in an otherwise cold city (literally and figuratively). The Wifi situation is really bad though, we got 30 minutes free in the lobby, but the speed is unusable (it took facebook about 5 minutes to load 1 page and my emails took forever to come through). We ended up paying 12 EUR per day for the internet (exactly what they wanted!). This is probably the biggest problem with this hotel and might be the reason I don't return. Other then that though, we were very impressed.
