“Great spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

This is a business hotel, but we were in Milan for just one night which happened to be on a weekend and thus the rate was a little less. For us it was a great location, within walking distance of the Duomo. After staying in a number of B&B's on our journey, it was nice to have a modern hotel room with a large western style bathroom. The breakfast was very well done and a big spread. The only downside for us was that there was no free wifi in the room and the wifi in the lobby areas was spotty and you only got 30 minutes. Just not a good system. We would probably not consider staying at the higher rate during the week. But, on this trip and this day it was a great spot for us.

We got a great deal on the Uptown Palace through Olotels. Booked a standard room, and was quite concerned that it would be tiny and unsightly. Fortunately, this turned out to be far from the case, as even our very basic room was a very comfortable size for two people and featured high quality amenties like a flat screen TV, biscuits on the bed at turndown, fluffy robes and slippers and a rainfall shower. Little details like that go a very long way and make this hotel excellent value for money, especially when compared to hotels of a similar calibre in Milan. Breakfast was very good and more than enough to keep us full through to the afternoon. Location was also great, approximately a 12 minute walk from the Duomo, which suited us fine as we did not want to be right in the thick of it. Staff were extremely gracious and helpful -- always on hand to call you a cab and put an umbrella over you if it was raining as you got into it. The immediate surroundings of the hotel are pleasant and there is a Carrefour just a couple of minutes away. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Milan who wants a bit of luxury and value for money. For a couple of twentysomething girls on a weekend break it was just perfect!

My wife and I stayed few nights during Dec 2012 in this nice, modern hotel. Staffs are very helpful to our needs. We can see duomo from the given room, reasonable room size with comfortable bed. We like the heated towel rack in the bathroom that helps to spread and dry the towels. Breakfast area are pretty small for peak season and queue can build up pretty fast. As usual the common spreads and juices, coffee and tea. Need Wifi connection? You will need to get from reception a password that last just 30min. However, staffs are helpful enough to pass us couple of password at one go when we request for more.

A short walk of 5-10min will reach Doumo and all other shopping areas.

Due to our luggages, we arranged for hotel transport to sent us to the airport. Was told of 100.00 Euro charge for a private merz but turned out to be a merz cab. We still hop on due to time is not on our side. Anyway, we still enjoyed the ride to the airport.

Stayed for a couple of nights shortly after the New Year holiday. Staff were very good and made us feel welcome. Rooms large and well appointed with very comfortable bed. Location is in walking distance to center and the Duomo or to the canal areas for nightlife in the other direction.
Breakfast was popular and pretty comprehensive with both hot and continental options.

Wifi was a major disappointment with only expensive paid service available in the rooms and 30mins free in the lobby, this seems to go against Accor's usual complimentary service that we have enjoyed elsewhere. This makes the hotel less useful to business travellers.
In another total own goal they have also blocked VPNs, facebook and twitter uploads thereby ensuring they never get any positive feedback from any of their guests while they are staying, this appears to demonstrate a stunning lack of understanding as to how people recommend services to friends.

In general good and if they could just move their wifi into the 21st century it could be great.

Room Tip: If you have Boingo or similar service you can get room connectivity, just don't plan on using fa...

Location is on the street, where parking is possible virtually anytime (in close proximity to Hotel) and vety very close to Duomo, La Scala etc.
Rooms with Santa Sofia view are extreamly noisy, especially during nighttime. Frequent emergency medical care cars rides with loud signals during the night make sleeping hardly possible.
Rooms are well equipped, but extreamly low in size. There is only appx 30 cm spaces between walls and bed on both sides.
Breakfast is only acceptable, nothing special. Breakfast room in not big enouph, what leads to frequent queing, up to 15 min waiting time.
We faced two strange situations in this hotel - first, all our requests concerning bedding, rooms location etc was omitted in reservation list in Hotel's computer system. Reception stuff informed us, that they had not received this information from our british travel agency. It seems very strange, considering the fact, that 2 other hotels in our trip, booked thru the same agency obviously had received our requests from agency and allocated us as requsted.
Second, upon arrival we were informed that requested extra bed for child costs 20€. We argued, that Hotel description on Booking.com indicated that children up to 12 years stay free for extrabeds. Reception firstly agreed with us, but then after internal conversation said, that free child bed is available only if the room has been booked thru booking.com.
We are frequent travellers, but we faces such unequal treatment of guests in european city hotel.

Room Tip: ask for room with NO view to Sanra Sofia street

A Great 4 night stay at the uptown palace. comfy rooms. great service. perfect location. tasty buffet breakfast. would recommend to anyone. one negative is the internet service which is slow and only available in the Lobby. I'm not sure if this is the same through out milan or just a poor service here.

Everything was perfect... for a very fair price ! Locaton is very good, near the most interesting attractions in Milan, just about 10 minute walk. The hotel is very nice: our room was very clean and well decorated. It is "hotel-boutique" style. The staff (front desk, room service, restaurent, bar) is really nice and gives a very good service. The breakfast buffet is really good with a lot of food choices and the staff serves you the coffee you want i.e. expresso, cappucino...We really enjoyed our stay, which was 6 nights, and we would go back to this hotel anytime and we do not hesitate to recommend it.
