Location & Rooms
The hotel is well-located (Next Underground Station: 2 minutes’ walk, Central Station: 15 minutes’ walk, Shopping Street Corso Buenos Aires: 10-15 minutes’ walk, City Centre: around 20 minutes). The room was very bright with a big window and everything was clean and tidy, but quite small.
The same accounts for the bathroom: clean and tidy, but quite small. The door did not fully open as it constantly slammed against the sink. But the big shower and the pleasant light compensated. However, the provided hair conditioner smells like kitchen cleaning agent and the shower gel is really harm to your skin what has nothing to do with the NH chain’s ‘bio’ attitude.
During your stay you are entitled to free Wi-Fi (you received the codes when checking in and when used up, you can ask for more). But, it is incredibly slow (no chance to load mails or check the weather for the next day) and should either not be offered or the speed should be increased.
The breakfast room is very spacious and I loved the modern but cosy design. The range of food is good including fresh fruits, juices, croissants, marmalade and Nutella, toast and white bread, cheese, meat, cooked egg as well as warm food like scrambled egg, bacon and sausage. However, the warm food was actually cold, the bacon too fatty and chewy, the egg looked so unappetising that I did not try it. You can get high quality and good tasting hot chocolate and different sorts of coffee from a machine. In my opinion, it is not meeting the standards of a 4* hotel breakfast but all in all, it is a good start in the day.
In general, I considered the staff members of the hotel as rather unfriendly with an annoyed impression. The supervisor of the breakfast shift just raised her eyebrow when we were entering the breakfast room and asking for a coffee when the coffee machine was out of order one morning, seemed to exceed their capabilities.
The reception staff seemed to be quite annoyed as well and when calling from the room to ask something, the receptionist suddenly ended the conversation by just hanging up. When checking out, the front desk agent did neither look at me nor did he show any interested in our stay but was concerned that we pay as fast as possible. However, we received great help from the receptionist Cristiano whose friendly and polite attitude as well as restaurant tips were very appreciated.
The NH Touring Milano is a rather good quality hotel with a great a location for a city hotel in Milan. Everything is clean, but rather small and there is definitely room for further improvements. Especially the friendliness of the staff members is doubtful.
I can recommend rooms on higher floors,e.g. 7th floor providing a nice window view.
