“Economical Stay in Milan”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We are a family of 5 and stayed here for 3 nights in the first week of December. One thing we didn't anticipate is that it's not close to the airport and the taxi service can become expensive. In the same way, this hotel is far from the city center. There are not that many good places to eat around as well. After checking into the hotel, rooms were nice, clean and ready for us. We had two adjoining rooms and they both had a 19" TV. Not sure whats the purpose of that. There was no DVD plater or channel for kids. It is not an extravagant hotel and if you looking to stay in Milan on a budget and just coming back to it to sleep at night, I definitely recommend it. WIFI is available but its not very fast. I checked in our room and in the lobby and the service was only reasonable. It maybe better in other rooms or areas.
The best part of the hotel was the complimentary breakfast. It was quite a spread and you have a lot of options available to start your day.
I am giving this hotel 3 stars due to the inhospitable guest service. It was not very welcoming and friendly. Checkout is at 1200 PM and we requested a late checkout at 0200 PM since our train wasn't leaving until late in the evening. When checked at the desk, they refused right away and wanted to charge half fare for extra 2 hrs. I have stayed in many hotels and after staying for 3 nights, an extra 2 hrs can be offered as a courtesy to bring your guest back. This was not the case at Hotel Raffaello.
Nonetheless, I do recommend the hotel if you want to stay on a budget with nice & clean rooms and an awesome complimentary breakfast offered.

The hotel is good value for money.Except the distance from city center and not so glam neighborhood not many negatives. We were family of 4 with an infant and 8 year old child. we were given a family room which was huge! (probably a suite with a front room/ bathroom and second bedroom).
Although there is tram right outside the hotel and is very very convenient.. during busy times its can easily take 35-40 mins to reach Duomo. As a young family I would have preferred shorter commute. Breakfast is standard. Rooms feel slightly dated but clean.Room AC not brilliant but when we visited temp was around 24 degrees so not too bad.
It was a great value for money.

Room Tip: if you have young children .. look for a place near the center of city

We stayed here for three nights when we arrived in Italy. Were able to have our room immediately which was a blessing after long flight and travel fro Malpensa airport. Room was large, clean and twin beds comfortable. Had no problems with wifi during our stay.
The location is well out of Milan central but the tram is cheap, regular and convenient. Only once reception had no tickets. Only one reception staff was a little curt all other staff were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is plentiful and a wide range. Some great value and quality restaurants nearby.
A good value option all in all

While in Milan we travelled by car from Bosnia through a few european countries but i found the location a bit further from the centre though the tram is right across the road and leads to Milan city and all major attractions. The room accommodated all 5 of us and we had free wifi. The only issue we had was on check out. I paid via booking.com.au and the full amount was taken at booking. When checking out the manager said i need to pay my account. After a while of explaining that i had already paid online and because we were travelling onto Switzerland so we needed to leave so i paid again :( when we got back home from our trip i eventually after a couple of months got a refund.

This hotel was a great place to stay in Milan in terms of affordability, cleanliness, and staff. Everyone was nice and the breakfast was excellent. The only major downside was he WiFi which is essentially non-existent. We had two rooms, one of which barely got a signal and the other had no signal at all. The people in this second room had to go out into the hallway to check their email. So if you're vacationing and don't care about WiFi, I would highly recommend this hotel. But if you're traveling for business or depend on WiFi when you travel for any reason, this hotel is not for you.

Room Tip: If it's important to you, make sure you're near a WiFi router.

Booked a short city break in Milan, staying at the Hotel Raffaello, via British Airways website.

First, although the public transport network in Milan is fairly good and quite inexpensive, be advised to plan your journey from the airport in advance. The reason for this is that the nearest Metro stop is quite a walk from the hotel, however, the overground tram stops right outside the hotel!

The 1960/70s build is not particularly appealing from the outside and I don't think this hotel is in the best district of the city (we had offers from ladies of the night as we walked home from the local McDonalds one evening!). However, once inside the hotel, it is very nice indeed and worthy of its star rating.

Upon arrival our check-in was fast and efficient and we were soon in our room. The decor in the room was slightly dated, but all in good condition, clean and tidy. The room was quite spacious, with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space for our three day city break. The beds, linen and pillows were of a good standard and afforded a good night's sleep for our weary tourist bones!

The bathroom was well appointed and we found everything to be clean. Further, complimentary toiletries were available if required.

Our stay included a continental breakfast which was served in a spacious room not far from main reception. The breakfast offered an excellent selection of warm items, cereals, breads, pastries, fruit, juices, teas and coffee etc. More than enough to fill your boots before hitting the sites of the city!

A small, but convenient and compact gym is available and bottled water and gym towels on hand.

Would I recommend this hotel to family and friends? Yes!
