A lot of hotels in Italy are overrated, and this is one of them.
Staff were nice, and breakfast buffett, though not incredible, was fine.

The room was unbelievably small and worn out. You barely had room to walk from the side of the queen bed to the wall, on both sides. We got a corner room close to the fire exit that I believe is a little smaller than most rooms. At least, it had nothing to do with the pictures you can find in internet. We complained, but weren't allowed to change.

Only one lift was working during our weekend stay, and we had to walk up and down several times. The bathroom was really tiny, and you couldn't even close the shower door, flodding everything every time you showered. The bed was ok, but the blanquet looked old and so worn out it seemed dirty.

Surprisingly, they had complimentary slippers in the room (only one pair though, thank god my wife brought hers along). Location is not great, about 5 minutes from the metro that will take you to the center in a couple of stops. About ten minutes by taxi. We only paid 86 eur per night on the hotel website, and you only get what you pay for. We used it just to sleep while visiting the city (shopping ), and it served its purpose, though I wouldn't pay more than that. It is defenetly not more than a very good 2 star hotel, maybe a generous
3 star. Don't go there if you plan to stay in the hotel more than necessary, if you need to get back to the hotel more than once per day or if you have 3-4 star expectations by international standards.

It's my third trip to Milan and I have stayed in different hotels in Fiera and near the Termini. Una Mediterraneo may not have the chic or gorgeous deco you may perhaps expect from a 4-star in Italy, but it's very comfortable, clean and close to every thing, as long as you do not mind using the metro. The hotel lobby is very small and simple, but functional. (Who will choose a hotel based on the lobby by the way?) The room we had on the 7th floor is of decent size, very clean bathroom, nice shower (with a removable shower head, which is a plus for me) and comfy beds. No min-bar if I remember correctly, but there seems to be machines down at the lobby. For me the most attractive part is it's very close to the Porta Romana metro station (exit via Via Montenero, you will see a flower stall, turn right and you should be able to see the rusty-red hotel building with the name on it). 5 min on foot, or 10 if you have large suitcase w/ you. Another plus point is it has very good hot breakfast with a lot of choices. It is probably one of the best I have ever had in Italy (where I have visited numerous times as a tourist and have stayed in over 20 hotels). Sorry, no idea about restaurants nearby as I have not tried any. But there seemed to be some good ones with lots of locals in the evening.

Despite being on the outskirts of Milan the metro is only two blocks from the hotel, you purchase your metro ticket at the magazine stand at the bottom of the stairs as you enter the subway and the cathedral is three stops away. I did have some problems getting back to the hotel and could not for the life of me tell you how to do it but I'm sure not everyone has my lack of direction.

When I entered the hotel I had my doubts, the lobby is nondescript and the man at the recption desk never smiled which is not what you expect from someone that deals with the public. The elevator is miniscule but then so are most elevators throughout Italy. I was pleasantly surprised by the room, it was a decent size and clean, the bathroom was very nice also with the usual amenities.

Last but not least, the buffet breakfast was more than adequate with fresh fruit, cold cuts and scrambled eggs. The coffee as with other hotels I experienced is from a machine, but did the trick of waking me.

If you stay here you won't be dissaponted unless you expect to have all the attractions outside your door in which case you would do better to stay closer to the center of the city.

Very modern hotel in Milan, about a 5 min walk to the Metro and just two stops from the Duomo and shopping centre of Milan.

Really nice rooms and very pleasant surroundings

For the price this hotel is fantastic. The location is brilliant if you don't mind using the metro (the best way to travel around Milan). It is literally a two minute walk to the nearest metro station P.Ta Romana which is only two stops away from the Duomo. From the outside the hotel looks quite basic, but inside it is very nicely furnished. The bathroom is made of white marble, with your shower gel and shampoo bottles replaced daily. Towels are changed every day, and the showers are of a good standard. The bedroom is more than satisfactory aswell.

If you like Indian food try the Punjab restaurant very close by on Viale Montenero, the Lamb Madras is to die for. There is also a Sicilian restaurant that you can't miss, (straight out of the main door and about 20 seconds in front of you, you can smell it as soon as you leave the front doors) that we didn't try but wished we had, the smell was amazing. There is also a McDonalds very close by, but who comes to Milan to eat McDonalds???

I would have given the hotel a 5-star rating had the staff behind the counter been a little more welcoming. They were fine, but could have tried wearing a smile every now and again.

All in all, a very good stay, would definitely return should we visit Milan again. For the price, it won't be beaten. Enjoy!
