“Service To Be Improved”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel in September, 2012 and formed the following opinion of it:
1) Location - great, just 2 minutes from Moscova metro station and 20 minutes on foot from Duomo and La Scala theater.
2) Rooms - on the whole, ok: clean and quite spacious. Liked the little balcony very much.
3) Sleeping quality - a problem there, I could hear babies crying or people snoring loudly in rooms next to mine. The noise from the outside was insignificant, though.
4) Air-conditioning - you can't have it in the middle of the day. You just don't :( Even for this price.
5) WiFi - 2 euro PER HOUR. That was the most stupid thing I came across in Italy, I think.
6) Service - POOR. Or, none at all. Please, someone, teach people at the reception to smile occasionally. It looked that they were angry to see me there.
7) Breakfast - standard, but the breakfast hall was untidy, because tables were not cleaned after other guests. It was hard to find a clean table at 9 a.m.

Hotel should be rated 1* and not three. First of all, very bad service and reception. Make sure that you can carry your luggage from taxi to your room on your own as no bell door . Rooms and cupboards are very old and almost broken. TV from year 1965 probably. Only location is good otherwise not at all recomended compared with the price you can get ofcourse much better quality hotel.

My sister and I were very positively surprised with this hotel.
First of all, hotel employee Tamara was always thinking ahead for us and very friendly and supportive during our 3 night/4 day visit. On the last day we also briefly met employee Max, who was also very accommodating and friendly. All staff speaks English very well.
We were able to lay our heads down in room 610, a room on the front (streetside) with a balcony. It was spacious, clean, new bathroom, big bed, which got cleaned properly and frequently.
The airco didn't work throughout the whole day, but for 14 hrs total of which till 01.00 hr at night. We were informed about this and their time schedule for this made sense. I didn't find this a problem at all since it keeps the room cool for you to get asleep.
The breakfast is very complete and tastes fresh/crispy, boiled egg, baked lil breads, different kinds of croissants, fruityoghurts, all kinds of stuff to put on your bread, fruitjuice, coffee variations, tea.. etc
The location is perfect. As others mentioned it's near the metrostation and on a 15/20 minute stroll to the Duomo, but it's also on just 5 min walk from Parc Sempione, which is a place to either relax or walkthrough when walking to town/Last Supper. Also, it's close to Corso Como 10 min walk North, where you can go for aperativo's (happy hour).
For the price we paid, I was more then merely satisfied. Highly recommended!

We stayed in the hotel Ritter for 3 nights, we were greated by friendly staff who helped us get around the city and made sure we had the knowledge we needed to enjoy our stay. The hotel room was large and well air conditioned it was a little dark as the room overlooked the courtyard. It was also a little old fashioned but for the price we paid it was clean and the bed comfortable we had clean towels everyday and our room was kept nice. It is what you would expect forthe price id say it was v similar to a travelodge. Breakfast was the traditional continental as much as you required. All in all a fab hotel for the money and great staff.

We chose this hotel as it was round the corner from our friend's home, the rooms indeed were neat and spacious but air-conditioning worked according to one very strange and stupid time-table and even when it worked it turned out after 5minutes of working and we had to turn the wheel with a temperature till started working again or sometimes it just didn't. But the worst thing was that according to some hotel policy the air-conditioning did not work AT ALL during the night when it +30 outside and not even a hint of the wind. So we opened the balcony moved our beds closer to the window and were bitten by mosquitos every night, we even bought fumigator but the mosquitos still were there, so every night was just a torture of heat and zzzz of mosquitos.

The location of this hotel in the Brera area of Milan full of boutiques was wonderful. The area is full of distinctive shops, pedestrian-only streets, and many restaurants and bars;it reminded me of Soho in NYC. It is walking distance to the Duomo, and it is close to the metro. It's only two stops to the Malpensa Express, the train to the airport.

Some of the previous reviews on this site mentioned the noise of a club. That is not an issue now because the club is no longer there. I asked for a quiet, non-smoking room and that's what I got. The only problem was that the air-conditioning was turned off at 11PM.! When I inquired about the AC's functioning, I was told that this was the manager's policy. In the height of summer, July/August, this policy needs to be changed immediately.

As noted, the breakfast good and the staff friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter.

Hotel Ritter was a neat surprise - quiet room in the middle of the action. The room was clean and new and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was delicious and we didn't feel hurried or rushed. Great bargain close to everything in the area.
