“Interesting but poorly laid out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

We went specifically to see the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition which was quite interesting. I felt that the explanation of some aspects could have been better as the context for use of the machines wasn't always that clear but overall an excellent display.
On the whole we found the museum itself to be quite poorly laid out and confusing. There didn't seem to be any flow between the displays - more of a "we have room here, let's display exhibit X". The content of the exhibits however was well presented with lots of hands on activities for kids.
Recommend for parents with children and general visitors alike.
Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby to eat.

“Save your money, packed with kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Went here hoping to see "originals" of DaVinci's sketches. Was disappointed that many of them were enlarged replicas, or reproductions of the originals.

Made the mistake of visiting on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Every kid in Milan was there, running and jumping around. Parents seemed oblivious.

Would not go back.

“Fascinating museum where Leonardo's inventions come to life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We budgeted only a couple of hours for this museum during our brief time in Milan, and wish we'd had more. This very well thought-out and executed museum offers so much of interest, and has many hands-on exhibits for kids. Of greatest interest to us were the scale-model renderings of many of Leonardo da Vinci's inventions, beautifully displayed in a long hall with blow-ups of the codexes in which they appeared and/or details of his artwork from the same period. If you didn't already believe that Leonardo was the greatest mind of all time before entering, you will when you exit!
We went specifically for the Leonardo's machines exhibit, but also found great pleasure in the musical instruments room, and the history of communications exhibit - from Gutenburg's moveable type up to present day. We ran out of time before visiting the transportation exhibit, with its steam locomotives, airplanes and even the Toti submarine which - for a small additional charge - visitors can enter.
This wonderful museum could easily fill a half-day or more, and is located very near St Ambrogio Basilica and not far from Castello Sforzesco.

“Suitable even for "non-science" people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

Last time I've been in Milan I had quite a lot of time in my hands - about 10 days. This explains why I ended up here, since I'm not exactly a "science person". It was really cold outside and it was a wonderful surprise to spend a couple of hours touring through some amazing people and facts linked to this field. I liked specially the part where it shows some Leonardo da Vinci artifacts drawings brouhgt to life by prototypes. If you have kids and they show this kind of interest surely is a good attraction.
