Hotel Spadari is in a very convenient location near the main piazza/duomo/gallery vittoria emanuelle and restaurants. The initial feel of the room (room 45) was that it was industrial, with no charm about it at all. But as we unpacked, we realised that it worked quite well, with spaces for your bags and all the things you need to unpack even for just one night. There's an opening window if you like fresh air. The bathroom was quite big but the shower is tiny. I'm petite and still found it very cramped. This is a shame because there is a huge separate bath that takes up more than its fair share of the floor space, so it could have been designed so much better. After a brilliant meal at a 'locals' restaurant called Borromeo recommended by the hotel staff and just a short walk from the hotel, we had a very peaceful sleep with no noise either from the street or in the hotel. Breakfast the next morning was a treat. In a very comfortable, quiet area there was a beautiful buffet with cheeses, prosciutto, fruit, cereals, eggs to order and a good gluten-free selection. Oh, and welcome to Italy, the home of Nutella. The service in the breakfast room, like that at the front desk and all of the staff was impeccable, very friendly, helpful and efficient. So after our initial disappointment we really warmed to this hotel and on our next visit to Milan it will be our choice for sure.
