“overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2007

We stayed two nights. The ambiance of the hotel is excellent. Location is right in the middle of the fashion district and walking distance to downtown points of interest.
Our reception was very good, check in handled efficiently, bags to the room promptly. The room was in excellent condition, not very large, bathroom has heated tile floors and a towel heater. The room view was disappointing. We overlooked a small side garden and the garage entrance.
Restaurant service was very good and selection was good.
The hotel offers free business center access including computer & printer usage.
Only drawback is that price was $1,000+ per night.

My wife and I spent two days in Milan before driving to Tuscany and two days after. The first two were spent in the other 5 star house located nearby (Grande Hotel) and the last two were at the Four Seasons. Our choice for any future visit would be the Four Seasons.
If you are going to spend the money anyway, book the Junior Suite and don't look back. Trust me, if you are in Milan your going to spend some $$$. The Four Seasons is much nicer house. The service, the rooms you name it. I wish someone had told me this before booking
the other one.

Stayed in the Four Seasons Milan during the recent Milan Furniture Fair. The hotel is literally located in the middle of Milan's Quadrilatero - where the major Italian designers have their boutiques. Easily the best hotel for shopping in Milan as all the major boutiques are 5 minutes' walk away at most. The hotel itself is a restored monastery and is very elegant. The staff all speak excellent English and are very courteous and helpful (although one of the concierge staff seemed a little dour, though efficient). Check-in at the front desk was a breeze.

The room itself was reasonably spacious, very comfortable, and well equipped with almost all the standard features one would expect of a top class hotel here: broadband internet, wall sockets for a variety of plugs, walk-in closet, separate shower stall, etc... The absence of wireless internet was a mild surprise. Beds were up to the usual high Four Seasons standards. Got a nice view of the inner courtyard too - which looked lovely in spring! Did not spend a lot of time watching TV, but the selection of channels was outstanding.

The gym was medium sized and very well equipped with the latest Technogym machines. On a less upbeat note, the food served at both the restaurants was largely disappointing, especially in view of the prices.

Overall, the Four Seasons Milano is a great example (in my book anyway) of what a Four Seasons hotel should be - faultless and gracious service in a classic/elegant environment. It's expensive, but during the Fair, so is every other hotel in Milan.

  • Liked — Boutiques in the Quadrilatero are more likely to deliver your shopping to the Four Seasons than other hotels!
  • Disliked — The restaurants are mediocre at best.

The Four Seasons (FS) in Milan is nicely central for all the immediate facilities and sites of central Milan and provides a superior stay. It has all the attributes a modern chain brand should supply and doesn't ask for any hard work dealing with Italian foibles. Our room was sizeable, well located and the room service breakfast was one of the nicest I've had (to a US menu). Overall a great stay and nothing else could have been expected.

I stayed in this hotel on a recent business trip. My ground floor room was perfectly pleasant. However, I was woken at 4.30am by the sound of lorries reversing and bottles being unloaded. This went on for several hours. My room was next to the loading bay. When I complained to the front desk they said they would make a note on my file so that I was not given the same room again. They should have made a note not to give anyone that room!

Just spent two nights at the Four Seasons Milan and couldn't have been happier. We had a lovely deluxe room overlooking the internal courtyard (unlike many city hotels, this is the view to have) and received understated, attentive service throughout our stay. It was my partner's birthday and they delivered a complimentary bottle of prosecco along with a birthday tart that had his name written in chocolate around the perimeter of the plate. The size, shape and location of each room (even within the same category) can vary quite a bit. So if you don't like what you initially see, ask about other room possibilities. We did and it made all the difference!

A great hotel, right in the middle of the fashion district. The food and service were truly outstanding, expensive but worth the money.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Right in the heart of Milan's most beautiful inner city quarter, the Four Seasons Hotel Milano is just steps from Milan’s famed designer boutiques and magnificent Duomo cathedral. An easy chic feel presides of the hotel's lobby and Il Foyer’s intimate bar and lounge, serving cocktails created by the bar's resident Mixologist. The scene at Il Foyer is framed by granite pillars that once supported the church of a 15th century convent, and the space flows into restaurant La Veranda, specialising in unique award-winning Italian cuisine as well as international delicacies. Tables in the restaurant look onto a meditative view of an exquisite cloistered courtyard. The Hotel offers guests other surprising experiences from a seasonal Chocolate Room created entirely in chocolate to a theme; a Chef’s Table, traditional Milanese aperitivo and cooking classes inside the restaurant’s fabled kitchen, and one of the city’s most creative banquet catering teams. Fragments of frescoes, a beautiful emblem of the building’s sanctified past, create a meditative backdrop for the Hotel's relaxed elegant interiors interspersed with classic architectural flourishes. The Hotel’s 118 rooms and suites are appointed with distinguished diverse designs and offer views over the property’s tranquil manicured inner courtyards, the exclusive street of Via Gesù and typical neoclassical Milanese rooftops or neighbouring quiet private gardens. The Hotel’s newly designed Spa, a warm and tranquil space, fluidly constructed by Patricia Urquoila within the building’s historical architecture offers therapeutic treatments using the finest skincare products as well as a Turkish bath, swimming pool, one-of-a-kind Spa Suite and a 24-hour Fitness Centre. ... more   less
