“modern with quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

Very pleasant hotel. Plastic cups almost brought down my rating. They're horrid - very 1*. Breakfast very much worth the 7 euro per person price tag, especially as not much competition in the locality. We had a very quiet room with balcony on 7th floor @ rear of building.

The no14 tram stops outside door and goes to Duomo. Recommend buying metro/tram/bus passes rather than the more expensive Milano Card which didn't give us any value. 1,2 or 3 day passes can be bought from newsagents shops. Coffee from machines in metro unexpectedly excellent & very cheap!

We visited in August and a lot of local shops were closed. We found a wonderful Italian pizza shop which sold only one dish per night for 5 euros. It was full of Italians & had wonderful atmosphere. Round the corner @ the Old Fox Pub, via c. da sesto, run by Italians, we found beer for 3 euros a pint - most unusual in Milano.

Recommend taking moskito percautions!

Room Tip: High floor. Room at rear with balcony

The Mercure Milano Solari is great value for money. Rooms are clean (although I wouldn't say it's spacious) and comfortable. However, the air-conditioning can be erratic.

Service is alright and average for a Mercure. The biggest plus must be the free internet which is reasonably fast and easy to connect. Asked for room upgrade as a Leclub Platinum and was declined - "all rooms are the same" - well, I'm sure they are not.

Unfortunately, during our stay, an alarm went off the whole night at the apartments across the road. Kept us up the whole night.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the courtyard at the back

I just reconfirm what everyone else has been saying.

Its great value for money within walking distance to the Navigli District and pretty much everything can be reached by tram #14 outside the hotel. I think i booked a smaller double so it
was a bit tight so not sure what the others are like.

Can't comment on the food as we didn't have any but the rates for drinks & food seem very fair to what’s available outside.

Just some additional bits…

To arrive/depart make sure you use the Malpensa express to Cordona(11 Euros).Come out of the station & go down to the metro and use the M2(green) for 1.50 Euro to St. Agostino. Just have a printed google map ready to get your bearings to the hotel as there are quite a few exits from the metro. Works really well & will surely save you some money.

Depending on your duration of stay you should by the 24/48 hr passes which can be used for the underground, trams & buses which are great. Just need to validate it and jump on, works out cheaper and saves the hassles of getting one every time. Make sure you use tram #14 as it covers virtually all the places most would be interested in and saves your walking legs to enjoy the best parts.

It was a great experience. The rooms were spacious and clean. A modern decoration and confortable bed. The staff was friendly and efficient at all times. Good value, and I surely recommend this hotel.

During a trip around the Alps and Italy we stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. Both us found the Hotel to be well located and very easy to quickly get to the centre of Milan by public transport. The rooms were comfortable and modern.

The young woman at the front desk, Federica was very courteous and most helpful when approached for any assistance. A grumpy young man on the front desk may need to consider his approach to dealing with the paying customers of the Accor chain of hotels.

Would recommend this hotel for a stay when in Milan.

i staid in Mercure Solari with my wife last march
it was very simple, there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms we had to stay in the small lobby to have access to Wi-Fi.
the service was very normal
(maybe i'm just not used to this kind of hotels)
