“Good value hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

modern hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Cheap hotel for Milan because slightly outside centre area but no problem as very neat underground stop and near Navigil area for bars and restaurants. also some wonderful cafes very close by which I will miss! On Sat a large market is close by which is well worth visiting. Why pay more to stay in city centre when this place is a little modern gem.

Hotel is well situated. About 20 miniutes from Linate airport.
Friendly service. Nice and quiet rooms. Outdoor terrace for spring evenings.
Easy access to tram and subway. Great restaurants and wine bars in the neighbourhood.
Ciao,
PAtrick

i've been here for 2 nights , good location near the metero and tram station , not far from navigli area (where you can find a great restaurants) , good and modern rooms , good value of money , i'd thank mr. s.khalil for his great help .
the internet was free and fast , wifi and lan in the room .
i didn't use the restaurant or bar or other facilities , so no idea about them .
i'd come again , and i'd recommend it for a nice stay in milan .

I stayed here for 3 days and found the staff very helpful. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. Wifi was available in my room, which was handy.

The location was great: 5 minutes to the underground and a 30 min walk from Duomo Piazza.

The only downside was that breakfast was not very tasty. Better to skip it and go to a cafe nearby or stock up at a nearby pastry shop and have breakfast in bed!

The hotel is clean and modern but a bit small except the bathroom. It is closed to the metro with 5 mins walk. It is good to purchase a one day (24 hours) or 2 days pass which can take the metro or tram. The only shortcome is nil wifi in the room but lobby only.

We checked in here on a late Friday night and was met by smooth and friendly service. The only problem we experienced was that to find a parking space. The hotel offered a valet parking for 25 euros per night which we thought was a bit exaggerated. Luckily we found a space just down the road, but don't take it for granted.
Rooms are typically for a hotel chain - nothing wrong, but nothing extra.
Location isn't great but ok, about 20 minutes walk into the city centre.

Hotel was nice, new, clean and modern. Room was of a reasonable size with a safe, fridge, kettle for coffee/tea. Generally we felt it was very comfortable especially with the king-sized bed. Location was good too. Although it is not in the heart of town, there is a direct tram outside the hotel to Duomo (though its frequency is quite poor), and it is just five minutes from the metro station San Agustino, which is a direct line to both Centrale and Cardorna train stations. There's also a huge supermarket 10 to 15 minutes away by foot from the hotel, where we stocked up on all our food supplies (especially since we opted for no breakfast in our rate). Service at reception was very helpful. We had many questions on the sights and train schedules and the staff at the reception were always helpful to check them online for us.

Our only comment is that, while it is all good on the basic fronts, the hotel lacks what it takes to be truly considered four-star. For instance, there is no wifi in the room (only in the lobby) and no complimentary bottled water or bedroom slippers in the rooms, which are simple amenities that one would expect from a four-star hotel. Given that there's a tourist tax of 1 euro per guest per night for each star of the hotel (which means 4 euros per guest per night here), one would expect the hotel to live up to its rating.

Nevertheless, we got the room at a good deal (full upfront prepayment rate) compared to other hotels in Milan, so all in all, we are happy with our stay and think it's of good value. Will certainly recommend this hotel to value seekers.

Dear Guest,

thank you for your comment, I’m glad that you had a good stay here in Milan and that you will recommend Mercure Milano Solari to other travelers.
You described carefully our services and the neighborhood. As you wrote, our hotel is very close to the city centre and close to shops, supermarkets and restaurants.

I’d like to thank you for the suggestions as well. As a 4 star hotel, we respect every kind of standard and guideline. Anyway we are trying to improve all the services: for example, it’s now available wi-fi in the rooms, and not only in the common areas.

Thank you again for your interesting review.

I look forward to seeing you again during your next trip in Milan,

best regards.
