“Great value for money!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2012

This hotel is highly recommendable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is superb: close enough to the city yet away from the crazyness of it all. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The only downside is that you can hear your neighbours, however, the people that go to this hotel are not backpackers, so everyone is very considered. Overall, a very good place to stay.

Hotel was very good and well located (1 block from metro station or 20 blocks from Duomo if you like to walk). There's elevator only for the luggage so, if you have to use the stairs to get to your room (only 1 floor). Rooms were small, as expected in MIlan, but very nice.
Internet was free and with good signal in the room.
Breakfast did not have huge variety but it was of very good quality.
So, in general a good option for a reasonable price for Milan. I will reccomend to stay here.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights last week and was very pleased with the hotel. Some things we liked:

-- Hotel was new, so facilities were in excellent condition,
-- Breakfast was VERY good.
-- Convenient location, 3 stops to Duomo on the yellow metro line and the Centrale Stazione is also on the same line. Hotel is also very close to Porta Ramona metro station.
-- The room we got was not facing the main road, so we didn't get the road noise.
-- Staff were friendly and helpful.

The only thing we found on the negative was that we could hear noises from the hallway and adjoining rooms. This is a common comment, if you read through the reviews. But this is not enough reason not to book here, as the hotel is really good! Thankfully, we are not light sleepers and sleeping at night was not a problem and were weren't disturbed. Also, we were really only at the hotel to sleep. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. The room we were in is small, but we didn't see this as a negative, as it was well-furnished, well -designed and very clean.

All in all, a very good experience. We'll definitely book this hotel again if we return to Milan.

This was a fine hotel a little off the beaten path from the main attractions in Milan. There were some ups and downs:

The cons: The walls are paper thin. In the middle of the night we could hear conversations all the way down the hall. The floor in our double room was a hard marble, which was a strange feeling. The beds were semi-comfortable. The bathroom was tiny; the shower was so narrow it was almost impossible to be comfortable. The staff rarely smiled.

The pros: The room is a decent size. The metro is just a block away. But the real reason this hotel gets three stars instead of two is the breakfast. We've never had a more delicious assortment of perfectly cooked eggs, cereals, pastries, breads and cappucinos. Everything was excellent. This is one hotel breakfast you won't want to skip.

Dear Guest

Our Hotel enjoys of an extraordinary location to move around the city. Only 3 stops far from Duomo centre by subway – less than 5 minutes - and near a young part of the city life as Navigli area. The metro stop is only 50 metres far from the Hotel.

We do not understand how you can define the shower “so narrow”; as you can see from your pictures we have a large, spacious and comfortable shower (150cmx90cm). The floor has done in modern style like the hotel.

About noise in the hallway, we always trust in the good sense of guests to not disturb too much others guests.

Thank you very much for your feedback on the breakfast.

Best regards,

Sandro Tancredi

We selected Hotel 5 for a two nights in Milan at the end of our trip to Italy because the price was reasonable and for its proximity to the Metro.

The hotel is well positioned, only a few steps from the Metro stop (Yellow line - the one that goes to the main train station. Just 7 stops away, no transfer).

The neighborhood (Porta Romana) is attractive and bustling. Many good restaurants are just a short stroll away.

The hotel staff is very accommodating and helpful. They always greet you when returning and are ready to help with any questions.

The rooms are on the smallish side but on par with most intown hotels. The room, as well as the entire public area of the hotel, was spotlessly clean. Our room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is included free of charge. Wi-Fi was fast and free.

We did not experience any noise problems during our stay (as has been reported by some earlier reviewers) .

This is not a hotel for those on an American style "Grand Tour" of Europe. It is a European style hotel with friendly staff, clean and functional amenities at a reasonable price.

Hotel Five is excellent. I highly recommend Hotel 5 Milan and would have no hesitation in returning.

The hotel is absolutely new and modern. The location is very good, just 1 min walking from metro station Porta Romana, it is just 10 min by metro until the Duoma. The staff is very kind and helpful, it was a pleasure to contact them every time. The breakfast is very good as well. There is no much place in the breakfast room but you can always find a table available. The rooms was very nice, the decoration of the hotel is modern, in my room there were the stars in the ceiling when it was dark, so, it was very romantic. Thank you very much for all the hotel staff for their service. I would reccomend this hotel to all my friends.

Hotel five
The rooms are tiny. It's a bit irritating to see the pictures provided by management on this web site, especially after being at the hotel and have a physical experience there.
Indeed the hotel is new, modern and well designed and location is good, 3 minutes walking from the metro station. But looking at the picture before our trip we had a wrong impression that this is a big and comfortable hotel but when arrived we encountered very tiny rooms, so Tiny that you can barely leave your suitcase open. Forget about opening 2 suitcases…
The rooms are not well lighted and the general atmosphere at the corridor and the steps is claustrophobic. Way far from what you can see in the pictures provided by the management.
Actually there is no really interior area where you can hang around except to your room which is as aforementioned- truly tiny.
The hotel is doing some reconstructions which lasted over 8 PM! When I was trying to catch a nap at the early evening, couldn't do it without my earplugs.

Some Good stuff
There is free internet at the lobby. 2 MAC computers for the guests usage in addition to WIFI.
The staff was good and hospitable.
The price was OK- 95 Euro per night for double room, including breakfast.
Overall, this is medium hotel, more like a hostel or a BB.
I would have rated our experience as poor but due to the relatively low price (at Milan) I’m rating this hotel as average.

We learn with regret that you did not stay completely well in our hotel. Your reservation was an economy room-type: the size and the rate of the room were reduced for that reason.

If you would wanted a different type of room –saying that immediately at your check in time to reception-, our staff would tried to make the possible to offer you another typology of room with higher standard

The photos everywhere published (on our website, on others portals and not least directly by our guests) are completely real.
Our hotel is objectively designed in a minimalist modern style and also the colors were chosen for this reason; we know that these choices adopted by the Hotel are totally opposed to a classic and traditional background.

We are very sorry for not having fully satisfied your needs, but the pictures represent what we really are; in fact, for example, on the homepage of our official website hotelfive.it ( and for not mention all the website with we work) is clearly specified that the rooms ant the Hotel are in modern style.

Finally we believe that your comment about the inappropriate category of our hotel is not correct as the many reviews written by hundreds of our guests show how the services ant the standards offered are equal if not better than a 3 star hotel.

Best Regards
