“That rare thing - a good business hotel with some character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

What do you need from a business hotel? Comfortable bed, decent shower, quiet night's sleep, edible breakfast, wifi that actually works. Hotel Milano Scala does all this, and at a price which is quite reasonable for the location. But not content with that, it then does a musical themed decoration and brings a live classical guitarist into breakfast. Oh, and it is the first "zero emissions hotel" in Milan, apparently. The reception staff speak perfect English but will humour a guest who speaks bad Italian, and they could not be more helpful, up to and including ordering a taxi which will take a credit card for the ruinous trip to Malpensa.

Next time, I'm unlikely to bother looking anywhere else for a short stay.

We were in Milan for 1 night to attend the opera at La Scala, and wanted a hotel within walking distance of the opera house. The Hotel Milano Scala met the requirement and more. The hotel is literally around the corner from La Scala and is a short 10 minute walk to the Galleria and Duomo.

Everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly. At check in, we were given an upgraded room (Don Giovanni) on the top floor which was really nice. The room was a good size, had wall to wall windows, and a beautiful bathroom. We had a King size bed, modern furniture, a sitting area with a sofa, and a desk. We had a beautiful terrace that overlooked the roof tops of Milan. The bed was very comfortable, and was fitted with high quality linen sheets. We were thrilled with the quality and overall comfort of the room.

Breakfast was very nice. The food options were plentiful and more importantly tasted really good. There was a young woman playing the guitar during breakfast which added to the positive experience.

The Roof Top Bar was also very nice, as was the bar off the lobby. Once again, service was great.

My wife and I had a great experience at the Hotel Milano Scala and will stay there on our next visit to Milan.

For a short stay in Milan, this hotel can be a nice choice. Well located for shopping. Walking distance to Duomo, etc...

The suites are spacious but the bathrooms are a bit disappointing.

Staff in general were fine, except for a guy called Pierre. He tried to make himself helpful but it became harassing.

Not many choices at breakfast but there's a Harpist playing music which is soothing.

You wouldn't choose to stay here based upon the external view of the hotel but once you get inside, it is very welcoming with friendly, informative staff.

The common areas include a restaurant / bar and a lounge, all tastefully decorated and comfortable. The breakfast is fairly limited in selection but a harpist is playing which makes the whole breakfast experience simply wonderful.

There is a rooftop bar where you can have a drink and look out on to the city of Milan - on a warm evening it is a lovely place to be but be careful as the drinks are expensive.

The rooms are very small with little more than a double bed and a small desk. The bathrooms are good, well appointed with an excellent shower.

My company hosted a seminar in this hotel and I had to spend two nights.
The hotel is really central and within walking distance of all the major monuments and shopping.
My room was pretty small and television didn't work (just the 3 national channels), but it was very calm and clean. On the other hand the service was VERY good: all the personnel put a lot of efforts into providing a nice and attentive service and making their best to comply with the clients requests.
Breakfast was very good as well: a nice combination of sweet pastries and fresh fruits.
I will be back!

A delightful hotel in the heart of the historical Milan. The location is superb, all the major attractions (La Scala, Duomo, Castle) are within a few minutes’ walk, the Last Supper is 20-25 minutes walk and the Cordona Train station is about 10 minutes walk away. The hotel itself is very pretty, sophisticated, newly renovated and has a number of other pluses such as live music at breakfast (e.g. flute, harp, acoustic guitar), free internet access, massage treatment on request, etc. The roof top terrace is very suave and not to be missed if you fancy drinks amongst Milan’s most beautiful people who seem to frequent the place (I think only open during spring –summer months). Another nice touch is that, being Eco friendly hotel, they grow herbs and cherry tomatoes in their own garden. The hotel’s staff were fantastic, supper friendly and went out of their way to assist. The rooms are a bit on a small size but are comparable to similar boutique hotels in the central London. We stayed 7 nights in a classic room, yes it is small but functional and very quite as it faces internal garden with magnolia trees. The bathroom was a good size, modern and well equipped. We would definitely stay at Hotel Milano Scala again.

Hotel Milano Scala is a very chic boutique hotel, located within walking distance to restaurants, shops and attractions. The hotel is very clean and the ambiance during breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The staff was amazing and very attentive. They accommodated us in making dinner reservations, each night. This was truly the best hotel I stayed in during my visit throughout Italy. I will most definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel
