“Better than expected!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

My husband and I stayed at this apartment the second week in June. Alessandra made us feel welcomed from the minute we arrived. The apartment was very clean and stylish. She gave us a list of places within 3 to 4 blocks for dining. Each one was a fabulous experience with excellent Milanese foods! The location to the Duomo and fashion district can't be beat. It is located in a very safe area of Milan and only a 12 minute walk to the Porta Garibaldi station. I have recommended this apartment to several of my friends who will be traveling to Milan. If it is available, book it...NOW!

What a fantastic place to stay at. Alessandra who is a the owner of this charming and spotless studio is a very nice hostess. The flat is very cute, nicely decorated and extremely clean. Her home made pastry are delicious. The studio is located in the very nice and trendy Brera - Garibaldi area not far from the Duomo (20 minutes by foot or few minutes by tram). We highly recommend this place for those who are looking for a self-catered studio in a lovely and quiet location where breakfast, lovely pastries, fruits and drinks are available for guests.

Many thanks Alessandra for making this place so special.

Room Tip: Cosy, very clean and nicely decorated studio for 2. Beautiful bathroom with shower.

From the very first contact with Alessandra, we knew this place would be a good experience. And it was! The apartment is really well set-up with all the staples you could possibly need and some lovely extras that give it a really personal touch. The kitchen is well stocked for breakfast and more, and on the street level of the building is a small supermarket, so you also have the option to stay in & cook dinner, which we did once or twice, or explore the many eateries just around the corner in Corso Como. The location was fantastic: close enough to comfortably walk along some great streets to most of the major attractions during the day (with the added bonus of having the Metro close by if you wanted a quick trip home), and far enough away to feel like one of the locals, and really experience Milano living. The convenient train trip to the Airport made our departure stress-free. Alessandra was always available for suggestions and a hello, but never intrusive, so she felt more like a neighbour than a landlord. We could have lingered here much longer, and certainly will stay here next time we are in Milano.

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Alessandra, and some of the best homemade cakes we have ever tasted! The apartment is hip and stylish, and utilizes all of the available space very nicely. The fridge and cupboards were really well stocked for breakfast, and we enjoyed having the choice to cook our own because then we didn't have to wake up at a certain time.

The location of the apartment is awesome, you can walk to just about everything in the center, yet the street itself is not excessively noisy at night. We were also happy there was an elevator for when our feet were tired from the day's adventures.

Alessandra was charming, friendly and very helpful - she alone would have made this trip an enjoyable one. I would recommend this B&B to everyone, and we cannot wait to come back again some time! Grazie Mille Alessandra and Milano for such a great stay!

Fantastic apartment in a great area. Close to sights and near metro. Alesandra was fabulous, very welcoming and helpful. With all the thoughtful touches it really was a home away from home. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

We had come from a small Hotel room in Paris so this spacious apartment was a breath of fresh air. The entrance/lift and the general area makes you feel like you are local for your short stay.
I am rating it 5 star/excellent, because I believe it deserves that rating. Saying that there are always areas for improvement. We felt the bed sheets could be a little better quality as well as the towels and the shower tiling/grout I think could be a little cleaner, it felt a like being at home more than a 5 star hotel. (I guess they are not pretending or wanting to be a 5 star hotel) But with small improvements in these areas PG B&B would be better than a 5 star hotel!
Also the door from the a joining apartment does let noise through, I wonder if this could be sealed somehow?
Overall fantastic and we loved the Chinese restaurant a few doors to right as you walk on to the street. We hope to come back one day.

All of these reviews here had set my expectation rather high before I arrived here for my 5-night stay. The host Alessandra is very welcoming and could accommodate our needs. We requested to pay the remaining balance by PayPal instead of by cash upon check out so we didn't need to bring too much cash with us. There is an extra 4% charge.

While all the other visitors have already mentioned lots of good things about Porta Garibaldi, maybe I will raise a few pointers:

- We arrived the Porta Garibaldi metro station and then walked south on Corso Como. According to the map, when we hit viale Pasubio, the apartment should be on our right. However, the street numbers on viale Pasubio were a little confusing as we first saw 9, then 7, 6, and final 8. Maybe it was only us who were not familiar with the European street numbering as no one else here raised this problem before. Lucky that I remember someone here mentioned Carrefour Express being right downstairs of the B&B, we finally made it to Alessandra's.

- No. 8 viale Pasubio consists of 2 buildings. The B&B located on the top floor of the right building. Note that walking from the front giant wooden door gate of No. 8 to the front door of the building is not entirely covered and the pathway was still under renovation during our stay in late May. It was raining heavy one night when we came back and too bad we didn't bring the umbrellas available in the store room in the B&B. We added a few more splashes of rain before we turn dry ourselves.

- Just an update on the status of the aforementioned renovation: The front giant wooden door gate was opened for 2 days with renovation trucks and workers around during the day.

- We were happy to see the electrical water boiler until we opened it. The heating coil inside was covered loosely by some white buildups which then floated up after we boiled our first pot. I am not sure if this is common for this kind of water boiler to have these white buildups as the same was also found in the boiler in our rented apartment in Paris. We purchased bottled water afterward anyways. Though Alessandra had kindly refilled some filtered water for us mid-stay, which is highly appreciated.

- We liked very much the crumpled water-proof map of Milan Alessandra left for guests. It was very useful particularly because we did not really plan much and we can just explore the neighborhood as long as we have the map with us.
