5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

Conveniently located just round the corner from the duomo, shopping and cafes.

Service was excellent throughout our stay. Provided us with many useful tips and recommendations for dinner places which were excellent as well.

Room was spacious and comfortable.

I agree with the positive reviews of UNA Maison Milano that this is, for the most part, a terrific hotel. It is intimately scaled, beautifully presented and perfectly located, just steps from the Duomo and the subway, and comfortable walking distance to major sites (the Brera gallery, Last Supper, Parco Sempione etc.). And the service was wonderful: Isabella was especially gracious, personable and helpful (and so too were her colleagues). She made some great recommendations for our two-night stay in Milan.

So why four rather than five stars? The hotel could really do better for its pricing so I've given it four stars as a nod to the management. I agree with many that, for what you're paying, having to shell out for internet service is a bit much, considering how it's commonly free in many European hotels. The breakfast was wonderful and we got a discount for reserving it in advance, but I also think it's quite expensive for the nightly tab. That there isn't anything like breakfast downstairs compounds the issue as well.

For all that, I would be happy to stay here again and could not praise the front desk more highly.

This is a great hotel in a perfect location – literally around the corner from the Duomo, very central, very comfortable, and with excellent service.

We came to Milan for a weekend only, so wanted to stay downtown – the location of the UNA Maison couldn’t be more central. At the same time as being right in the middle of all the shopping and by the Duomo, the hotel is also very quiet. All windows have double-glazing, and you cannot hear anything from the street – even though it’s a busy street and it has a tram line on it. We were very impressed with that.

The rooms are large, and so are the bathrooms. Everything is very clean and very comfortable. The location of the hotel means that you can get back to your room during the day, have a rest, leave your bags, etc. and then head out again, which is a great advantage.

We ordered breakfast on both days, this was delivered on a tray directly to our room. There is no breakfast-room at the hotel, but the guest rooms are large enough to accommodate a small table and two chairs, so you can eat comfortably. The price for two people for breakfast is 30 euros, if you pre-order it is 25 euros, and we found this to be really good value. The breakfast is huge, and delicious. I’ve been in hotels where I’ve paid a lot more for a lot less/less nice food! You have a choice of scrambled eggs, you get yoghurt, cereals, jams, honey, Nutella, freshly squeezed orange juice, choice of coffee or tea, various rolls etc. The hotel was also able to accommodate my gluten-free diet, and included special gluten-free bread for me.

The staff at the hotel are exceptional. Booking directly with the hotel was really easy, they responded to my e-mails really quickly. On arrival we were given all the information we needed, maps, recommendations for restaurants, taxis were booked for us, etc. The receptionist even very kindly offered to check us in for our flight back home, and when the check-in didn’t go through she called the airline directly for us. They all spoke really good English, and were so friendly and happy to help with anything.

We took a taxi from the Linate airport to the hotel, which cost about 20 euro, but there is also a bus which goes from the airport to downtown, not far from the hotel.

Overall we were really impressed with the UNA Maison and would definitely recommend it!

P.S. : Another reviewer on this page mentioned that when in Milan you’ve got to get a coffee at Gucci, so we did – and we were quite disappointed. Average coffee, over-priced, and waiters with a complete lack of interest in customers. Plenty of other much better options around!

Stayed 2 nights in early July as part of a bigger trip to northern Italy. First trip to Milan, and this hotel couldn't have been better. We can't say enough good things about it! Booked a non-smoking Executive room and were upgraded to a Junior Suite (rm. 652 - pictured on the website, with the slanted ceiling by the bed) on the top floor of the hotel. Nice. Room was gigantic by European standards, with modern furnishings. Suite part included a sitting area with 2 leather armchairs as well as a small patio with 2 chairs and a table (very nice for breakfast or for relaxing in the evening). King-sized slat bed was insanely comfortable and came with a choice of pillows (see the pillow menu by the bedside). Bathroom was gigantic with a tub big enough to do laps in. Separate, large shower with both handheld wand and rain head, toilet and bidet. Amenities are nice and plentiful. Closet had many hangers, as well as drawers and platform on which to put suitcases. Again, very large (I've stayed in smaller hotel rooms!). The hotel is steps away from the Duomo plaza, and about 50 metres away from the subway entrance. Despite this, it was very quiet - we could not hear any street noise except from the odd squeal of trams.

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful - they couldn't do enough - especially Andrea, whose restaurant recommendations were thoughtful and spot-on. On check-in, we were offered a choice of beverage and a small fruit cocktail, which were promptly served on a silver platter - indicative of the superior customer-service mentality that the hotel not only espouses, but achieves. WiFi was free and excellent reception and quality. Rooms had large flatscreen TVs with a full assortment of Sky satellite channels.

The only quibble is that breakfast is served by room service only. There is no separate breakfast room, which limits choice. That said, our breakfast was fresh, delivered on time, and delicious.

We would stay again in a heartbeat at this, or any other UNA.

This hotel is in the perfect location within about 100 meters from the duomo and the main shops. The hotel it's self is very clean and modern. We had the room on the very top floor which has its own private lift to take you to the room and a near 360 degree view over the roof tops which was nice. The main reason we stayed here was due to the location and this just makes your time in Milan so much more relaxed and stress free as its very busy on public transport which can be annoying and confusing.

Situated directly across the road from the breathtaking Duomo Milano, this boutique hotel is a great example of "don't judge a book by its cover".
The tiny hole in the wall entrance and lobby is brightened by cheerful staff faces and jars of free candy for guests to help themselves to. We were given a clean and large junior suite as an FOC upgrade which featured an oversized bathroom, comfortable king bed and a small terrace with partial views. We highly enjoyed our stay at UNA Maison Milano and hope to stay again.
