Hotel Canada isn't the most luxurious hotel you'll ever stay in, but for a hotel within walking distance of a number of MIlan landmarks, it's priced well.
The hotel has no carpets (supposedly for allergy sufferers), and according to the note in my room it also allows pets - though I've not seen any. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the name, there are quite a few American guests.
There are a few things I always like to have in a hotel room as a business traveller: plug sockets next to the bed, free wi-fi, real coathangers and separate shower gel / shampoo, all of which are present, but check with the hotel about the free wi-fi as their own literature states that it's not free. There is supposedly also free wired internet in the room (I can't see a network port), and an internet point with a printer in the lobby.
It also appears to have a free (soft drinks only) minibar, a feature that I thought was reserved for members of their corporate scheme, but maybe one to discuss when making a booking. Still, it's a very welcome touch.
The room is clean and everything seems in good condition, and while small it's well designed and modern. The staff all seem to speak perfect English and are very helpful, and the free (again, check) breakfast is limited compared to some hotels but includes bacon, eggs, toast, pastries and cereal, so everything I'd normally eat!
I can't compare Hotel Canada to the other hotels of Milan, but I'm happy to have chosen it and would happily return.
