“Your home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Residence House Aramis Down Town was/is as good as its website promises... The outstandig hospitality and warm welcome of Luigi Giammetta makes you feel at home away from home. Great big clean rooms, perfect location, great service, easy access, etc etc. In the apartment really everything is provided! The great base for an excellent trip in the city of cities.

We arrived in Milan after driving up from Santa Margherita, was a lovely drive we texted Luigi to tell him we would be there in 30 minutes when we arrived in Milan, he met us at apartments, we were able to drop off luggage right outside front door, he then drove with us to park car it was in lot close to apartment and gave us a parking pass to go in and out with, we didn't use it though as everything was in walking distance, the apartment was very nice and huge and nice balcony decorated nicely and had everything you need, we had dinner on the canals and that was very nice, went to the Duomo(dont wear sleeveless as they will not let you in, we also had shorts on in May, it was 80 degrees and hot, but everyone just looked at us like we were crazy as they were all wearing black pants, maybe its a fashion thing?) would definantely stay here again when we come back to Milan, price was right and Luigi couldn't have been anymore gracious and helpful, when we checked out he again drove with us to get car, so we would'nt get lost, which was so helpful when traveling in a foreign country garmin is great but not as helpful as a freindly face who speaks english, Luigi truely seems to love what he does, bravo for good service!!!

Room Tip: book "the last supper" at least 3 months in advance

We stayed 5 nights at the end of August. It was awesome. Luigi was such a friendly and helpful host. He greeted us with a big smile, immediately offered us a map without asking and showed us where to go. Feel free to ask him tips on what to do. He told us to shop at Via Torino and avoid Corso Bueno Aires and he was banged on.

For those of us who gave a bad review, let's get something straight. Read the fine prints before you book. It is an apartment hotel, not a hotel. There is no daily housekeeping (our room was cleaned once during our stay). The room is basic but very clean and you are expected to keep it in good condition or you will be charged a cleaning fee. Luigi supplied us with a complementary basket of toasts/cookies, 2L of juice, water, milk and a bottle of wine and that is a very nice touch (you probably know water is not free in Europe). The location is close to Navigli where the locals eat.

Note Luigi asks you to confirm your approximate arrival 24 hours before check in. That is because he is not always on site. Once he knows when you are arriving, he will be there waiting for you. On our last day we were catching the train to Venice at 5pm. Because our room had no other booking on that day, he let us store our luggage in the room so we could do some last minute sight seeing, come back to freshen up before we leave.

The Italian hospitality shines through when staying here! Luigie was waiting for us upon arrival and showed us to the spacious apartment. After walking around a bit we returned to find two big bowls of fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juice and fresh bread. So thoughtful. The location is good with a 15 minute walk to the Duomo and 5 minutes to the trendy canal area.

For this price, we had expected much more. We were a family that booked the apartment for 2 nights and boy did we regret it. Granted, the apartment was big, and it was very clean, but for roll away beds I would have booked a hostel that would've been half their price. All the beds, even those in the master bedroom were roll away beds that creaked and moved slightly each time we turned in the middle of the night. Needless to say none of us had a really good nights' sleep while there, a huge disappointment given the great reviews on tripadvisor (not to mention the price).

The room was basic, and like what everyone said there were snacks and milk provided. Service was okay, but the location was frankly more suitable for travelers looking to stay near Navigli and drink.

We won't be coming back again.

Dear Guest,
thank you so much for Yr stay and review on this site.

So far we can not trace You in our Guests list as it seems we have never had a japanese family of 5 staying in our big apartments during this month of august past, so would be nice of You if You can contact us directly in order to investigate and give You a direct reply . Thank You .

So far we thank You for having agreed that the apartment was big and very clean and that were provided as well free of charge ingredients & snacks .

It is pitty that You have forgot to mention that in the paid rate (does no matter how much it was ) it is included free of charge wi fi that usually in standard category hotel costs eur 20-25 per room per night - so in Your case eur 50 per 2 nights of stay and that You have forgot to mention that in the paid rate (does no matter how much it was) it is included free of charge parking that in Milan usually costs eur 30 per day so in Your case eur 60 per 2 nights of stay .

So if You properly calculated :
what You payd less eur 160 for wi fi and parking i am sure that what You have paid is really very cheap for what you got maybe cheaper then some hostel i know.

Regarding the bedding please well note that in our Big Suite of 140 sq meteres our usual bedding is 1 room with 1 standard double bed 1 room with 1 standard double bed + 1 single bed
1 big living room 1 big kitchen 2 bathrooms 1 terrasse

In case we got a booking for a family we change the bedding to be :

1 room with 1 standard double bed - no folder-
1 room with 2 standard single beds - no folder + 1 folder single bed

Please be nice enough to contact us directly so we can properly investigate and give You our apologize , if we have to :-)

Arigato !

We decided to stay at Residence Aramis based on TripAdvisor reviews and are so glad we did! Luigi was such a welcoming host and incredibly helpful in guiding where to go and things to do. He even took care of our laundry for a small fee. The room was basic, but comfortable and snacks and milk were provided at no additional charge. We even asked for more milk because of our 18 month old and Luigi gave it at no additional charge. It's right around the corner from the canals where we had dinner every night, such a fun place! And right across the street is a cute gelataria which had the yummiest handmade cannolis! We had a great time and hope we will be able to come again soon. Note: We didn't notice on the reservation that we had to call 24hr in advance to say we were coming but Luigi was so nice about it.

two months ago we had the opportunity to go to milan, when we arrived, the door was closed and no one was to receive us, finally after an hour a very RUDE guy, received us and told us that the PARKING space wasn´t included because we hadn´t read the tiny words in the reservation, but that wasn´t all, instead of explaining us with patience, he started to SHOUT to my MOTHER and my sister, I wasn´t sure why he did this, until he started yelling at us and insulting us because of our customs, and because we come from a latin american country, the room was small, with a smell of cigarrette and with no breakfast included. VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE PICTURES SHOWN.
Dear luigi I invite you to my country Mexico to learn how we treat people we respect them, and treat them as if they where at home, and firstly we respect the beliefs and origins of hour guests

WE HAVE BEEN IN MORE A LOT OF CITIES AND WE HAD´T RECEIVE SUCH A BAD TREATMENT

Dear Guests, thank you for yr comment .

Herewith a small reflection about it ;

We are a small aparthotel in milan dow town with own policies and conditions;
so far we work by appointment only and free car parking is available only if booked in advance

Regarding what you stated into yr review please well note that all our staff is experienced, well trained , multilingual , nice , patient and polite ;

Surely we are not racist and do not have any issue for Guests coming from anywhere even from Mexico :-)

We have 27 rooms & apartments - all different to each others and we are well known worldwide for the high quality of our services and for the warm welcoming provided.

In our aparthotel smoke is not allowed and we do offer free ingredients for a self catered continental light italian breakfast .

If for some issue you did not pay attention in our general conditions , sorry but this is not our fault.

best regards
