“what a surprise... delicious food in a friendly environment”
Even if i walk through via Tortona a lot of times, i never noticed this place.
the window is small and the restaurant is hidden behind a long corridor.
I got this place suggested by a colleague...that told me it is one of the most delicious place in town.
When you enter, the ambiance is not special at all, i would even say basic and unpretentious with furnitures from late '70 and a lot of mirrors... so no romance neither atmosphere.
But the owner and the waiters are so nice and gentle and offer you a warm welcome.
the food is delicious and various. we were suggested to order the menu degustazione (meaning that the waiters arrives with several trays and serves you a lot of different food options time after time).
For starters they served homemade russian salad and tomato bruscetta. Then another tray arrived and served different kind of ham and salami, and some mozzarella.
After that arrived a tray of warm starters: gnocco fritto (fried dough) with ham on top, a melted cheese bruschetta, a vegetable frittata.
What really got me crazy were pasta dishes... handmade by the lovely Ms.Vita, we had some ravioli filled with ricotta and spinaches with butter sauce, and some gnocchi served with tomato sauce and beans..
the quality of the ravioli and the gnocchi was incredible. The taste was so delicious that reminded me the old styled gnocchi that my grandma was used to do. It is crazy cause this quality is not easy to find anymore in a restaurant.
after the pasta dishes we were asked if we wanted to have also the degustazione of meats but we were too full so decided to proceed only with the degustazione of desserts..
and here another surprise: they prepare your tiramisu in front of you. the waiter arrives with a dish containing a long and big savoyard (biscotto). then he pours a cup of cold coffee on it, and adds the mascarpone cream on top.
Last but not least, he delivers to your table a big copper pot fro fondue with melted chocolate. So you can pour the melted chocolate on your tiramisu!!!!! i loved it soooo much...
then more almond cookies, homemade cakes and pies were served to accompany the coffee.
we paid 40 euro per person including the wine.. and I think it was really worth the money..
In Milan such hidden gems are disappearing... modest place to eat traditional and genuine food..
Don't go if you like elegant and fancy places, but definitely do go if you like genuine delicious food and authentic atmosphere!
