Stayed for one week on a half board basis through Thompson Lakes and Mountains package so I assume we got a good rate judging by other comments re prices, etc. The hotel itself is very grand which may not be to everyone's taste but we liked it. Facilities available are excellent (indoor and outdoor pools, fitness suite, etc.) and the location is convenient for both Stresa itself (10 to 15 minute walk) and the smaller boat terminus to Isola Bella and the cable car to Mottarrone at nearby Carciano which is a similar distance in the opposite direction via a delightful lakeside walk.
You can get 2 hours free wifi by swiping your room card at reception and completing a short questionnaire or go to a small cafe/restaurant just across the road which has free wifi and cheaper drinks!
Rooms at the front and sides have Lake views, but best views look out towards Isola Bella which is illuminated at night.
Our room was cleaned and fresh towels provided daily. The en suite had a combined bath/shower with shower screen which did struggle to contain the water and we also experienced the wet floor mentioned by others.
Bedrooms were a reasonable size but a little "tired"- perfectly adequate but not up to the same high standard as the public areas. We found the pillows too hard at first but just about got used to them by the end of the week.
By far the best feature for us was the food, a huge choice of buffet style breakfast (hot and cold) and the dinner menu was varied and delicious (N.B. a s you are in Italy you do get authentic Italian food and plenty of it!). The Service we received was first class and I couldn't fault the waiting on staff who were friendly, attentive and helpful. Unfinished bottles of wine can be re-corked and will be saved for the following day if you wish.
Bar prices, wine list and mini bar prices are high compared to what you would pay in Stresa itself.
The covered dining terrace at the front was very nice but the fountain at the front of the hotel is noisy so find a table a little further away if you want to hear your dining companion!
Whilst here, do not miss a short walk to see the illuminated musical fountain at the Grand Hotel des Isles Borromees next door which chimes on the hour.
