“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

All the previous reviews are so true - this place is fabulous (particularly if you have a lake view room with terrace).
We stayed 3 nights as part of a walking holiday around Lake Maggiore and this was our favourite hotel of the trip. You can't beat sitting out on your own terrace sipping a cool beer whilst being amazed by the views of the lakes and the mountains.
Great location in walking distance of lots of restaurants.

Room Tip: Lake view room with terrace

This hotel is in a great location, only a block from the ferry and within walking distance to the town center. The entrance is on the first floor (one flight up) but there is an elevator if you cannot walk up the steps. We stayed here for three nights in September. Our room was very clean and quiet with a balcony and a wonderful view of the lake. The front desk staff was very helpful when we needed to print out a voucher. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room but there are many options only steps away.

Room Tip: Request a room with a full lake view.

The hotel is up one level off the street but there is a lift so you don't have to carry your luggage. Our room was large, bright, clean and with a balcony with table and chairs and a view of the magnificent lake Maggiore. Located on the main road and directly opposite the port where you catch a boat to one of the islands it was very convienently placed and not noisy as like most places we encountered it had double glazed windows. Staff were always helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of options typical of Europe and fresh coffee. There is also a nice garden at the front which gives this place a relaxed soothing atmosphere that most hotels don't have.

Excellent stay! We wanted to stay at one of the grander hotels and ended up here due to lack of availability and on the strength of tripadvisor reviews. The hotel exceeded our expectations and the photos on their website do not do it justice. Location is excellent and the cleanliness of the room is faultless. We had a stunning view from our suite and would definitely come back again.

Great place to stay. Very clean. Quiet (during my stay anyway) and attracted like-minded people: so no TVs blaring away into the early hours. Having said that, it's only 4 or 5 minutes walk to the centre of town and a wide selection of bars and restaurants. (Which are needed as the hotel has no restaurant of its own)
The owner/manager Marisa is exceptionally helpful. The breakfasts give an extensive choice of cold food and the woman who presents them is nice and engaging.
The location is on the lake front, the boat station/main ticket office an easy and short walk. Watch out for the Stresa boatmen who eagerly offer you a trip to the islands: these are private and more expensive trips then you may wish to pay. Might be just what you want of course.
If you can skip around the big tour groups, the 3 primary islands are great to see. Ticket combinations can be a little confusing and I found Tomassucci Travel - in a small tourist shop opposite the embarkation point - very friendly and helpful, giving advice and selling boat & entrance tickets at the lowest price available, as well as offering various tours.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a lake view.

Booked this hotel on strength of reviews and it certainly lived up to all expectations. Our suite was very comfortable with a lovely terrace. Sonia and Denise could not have been more helpful, helping us to plan various outings and recommending restaurants. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Stresa.

This hotel does not disappoint. It lives up to and beyond the reviews. It's location at the southern end of Stresa ensures a quiet, relaxing stay with stunning views, and the most comfortable and spacious accommodation. Delightful staff top off a stay not to be forgotten. Would highly recommend it.
