“Expensive but very good food, amazing location for dinner.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

Irritated by the 25 minute delay in the promised boat pickup but this is Italy and decides it goes with the territory. Made up by great views from the boat and restaurant itself. Pretentious maitre d who pulled faces when we didn't order a four course meal and expensive bottle of wine - mate, I wanted a meal not be a glutton. Waiter himself was great although over stretched. Food was very good. Views back to the mainland and the other islands were amazing. Going to island for dinner must be on the to-do list when staying in the area.

I didn't stay at the hotel, I visit the restaurant. Perfect in all aspects. Highly recommended and suprisely price worthy. A superp menu for 50€ (antipasti, first course, main course, dessert and coffe). All 100%. Top 5!

Looking for lunch on Isola Pescatore? Spend a little more and enjoy the restaurant at this hotel with a magnificent view of Isola Bella. A plate of home made pasta and a glass of wine will not break the bank and certainly beats all the other lunch venues on the island.

We stayed at the Hotel Verbano September 2012 on vacation at the end of the summer season for three nights - just right length of stay. The hotel is at the extreme end of Isola Pescatore overlooking the castle on Isola Bella. We specifically booked one of only 4 rooms that overlook Isola Bella. The hotel is not new and the rooms are basic , but what an experience to have Isola Pescatore to ourselves morning and evening after the mass of day tourists leave the island. Front desk service is a bit on the cool side, but do not let that detract you from the experience of staying on the island. There are no TV s in the rooms, but they are comfortable, clean and very quiet. We had dinner at the hotel one evening, very good and the service friendly. The island has many restaurants , but you need to book in advance to make sure they are open and have space in the evenings. Getting around to the other islands, to Stresa and surroundings is easy during the day on the frequent ferry services. The island is small. It takes only 10 minutes to walk end to end, but walking the many alleys with stores and restaurants is fun. Have a look on the hotel web site that can be accessed easily via Google or Bing. What you see is what you get. We loved our stay. When we left, we went to Stresa, took the train to Domodosolla and then took the Cento Valley scenic train to Locarno, Switzerland. We highly recommend. Tours and tickets are best purchased at a travel agency located directly across the street from the ferry terminal in Stresa.

The location on an island so close to the mainland is fun. Ferries run a great deal but less in October when we were there. One night we got stranded on the mainland in Stresa but after a taxi and a call to the hotel a boat was sent over. The lake was wild, it looked like an ocean storm.
The actual restaurant was fabulous-great service, wine selection and the food was superb.
I couldn't believe there is a little town on the island, I guess mainly for the tourists, but even so.
When the sun came out it was glorious. To have a view to Isola Madre and Bella was like a miracle. Both islands are a must to visit. GO!!

we had just an OK stay here - the reason we chose this hotel was the opportunity to stay on an island and it provided just that. Our room was very, very old - which you can expect in historic buildings - but the big downfall was that there was no shower. They had a bathtub with a hand held shower head that was at knee length, so if taking a morning shower is important to you, beware. We also ate dinner there, there was only one other couple (we are here at mid October), the food was good and our service was also good. I'm sure this place is wonderful for lunch in the warmer weather, but it was quite empty and we couldn't eat outside while we were there.

Room Tip: I'm not sure, but I think we stayed in the "annex"

This was a Good opportunity to stay on an island in lake maggiore. The hotel was average but a little overpriced. What you are basically getting is a room away from the Town of Stressa but without the amenities Stressa offers. The deluxe room we had didn't look like the pictures on the website as all rooms are different. The room was average but not as luxurious as the photos made it look. The manager was extremely nice as she was able to assist u switch dinner reservations. The rest of the staff seemed a little confused and lost at times. Basically I liked the hotel but I would probably stay in Stressa next time.
