It was our last evening in Stresa, and just to make certain we were heading for an enjoyable dining experience I consulted Tripadvisor thoroughly beforehand.
It Botte was our first choice, but the restaurant is very small and booking is essential. So we continued up the street to Caffe Torino, our second choice and a good choice it was. This is an informal restaurant popular with both tourists and Italians.
There is plenty of seating both outside in the central square and in, which was our choice as it was pouring cats and dogs. Inside there was a warm, welcoming atmosphere and an appetizing aroma.
In addition to the extensive menu there were a number of specials which our waiter, who spoke excellent English, explained. Every course we ordered was beautifully served, more than generous in size and delicious.
With the bill, which was very reasonable, we were served small glasses of limoncello - a delightful finale to one of the best meals we had in Stresa.
