I went with my sister and elderly mother, who had recently had both hips replaced. Big mistake number 1. You need to be very fit and healthy for this venue unless one of you is prepared to drive everywhere. The bus service is only frequent once you have waited over an hour and decide to walk then several go past. There is no service on Sunday at all. Although there is zebra crossings cars do not stop unless you are half way, even then they look as if they may not stop. No patience with the old despite the walking stick. Crossing the road became a nightmare. No pavements you walk in the road and the traffic passes by close. Beware the pavements that just simply run out leaving you stranded on a busy motorway type road.
Now for the carl and do. Beautiful apartments 2 bedroom ones have two bathroooms one with bath and shower inside and one with shower cubicle both with hair dryers and bidets. As with hotels the usual complimentary toiletries and also 1 toilet roll in each toilet, after that you provide your own. Furniture and soft furnishings all match. As do all the reception ground floor and its sitting rooms. basement floor has childrens play area although i dread to think of how the management would deal with children's noise and mess. You would probably be asked to leave if you dared to use it! The place is spotless, however don't expect maid service, they provide mop and bucket and brooms for you to do your own cleaning and if you want clean towels forget it they along with your bedding will only be changed once you leave. Which brings me to the refundable deposit of 200 Euros which is payable on admission. After reading a review I rang Archers before the holiday to ask about it and they said they had never heard of it before and assured me it wasn't so. They don't do food at all but provide a well equiped kitchen to cook in although no oven only microwave. Supermarket is about 5 mins away and Places to eat about 20 mins if you are able bodied, otherwise it becomes more difficult as there is only pizza to take away.Supermarket shuts at 1pm on Sunday as do most of the shops. Italian food only. microwave meals are unheard of in the supermarket even the bigger ones. Also no baked beans or coffee compliment anywhere to be found. There is a bar next door that had menus on show but was told coffee only as September is out of season! Recycling is a must and there is strict penalties for those that don't abide. I only hope I got it right as there is cameras to ensure, on the bins at the back of the property. On leaving we cleaned up and left it tidy as I have always done, but I drew the line at washing the floors. All the kitchen utensils etc had to be counted and the remotes to the three tvs accounted for. Also remote for the air conditioning, which suprisingly was without extra charge. Lake view does not mean quiet as you still have the noise from the busy road but the view is lovely. The double glazing does shut out the noise. I couldn't find a light to the balcony so reading after dark was out of the question. On arrival we were told that the sister hotels did a special deal if we got a ticket from reception. Breakfast was 15 Euros and dinner 35. She named them including hotel Splendid, a beautiful luxury hotel just across the road. We chose that one, but then was told that reception had to book it not a ticket at all. We were then informed that Hotel Splendid was not included in list. However as we were leaving we heard a new guest being told the exact same thing, before the rules changed!!!!
Over all I found Italy to be expensive and most of the people I encounted rude. At the airport was a different story most of the staff were efficient and helpful and we managed to get special assistance for my mother which lasted right through to gatwick. The coach which took us there was comfortable and the rep a lovely young lady who helped us when she saw we were struggling with my mother. After all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing up and watching the refuse goes to the right bin I could do with another holiday. Now I remember why I dislike self catering, but this was by far the worst, despite the best apartment. Definately not a beach holiday more a siteseeing holiday.
The higher the better to avoid the noise of the traffic.
