“Simply the best place to stay in Baveno”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013 via mobile

If you are in the fortunate position of planning a visit to Baveno and this hotel had rooms available, do yourself a favour right now and stop reading this review and book the hotel whilst you can! Then come back and I will tell you whilst you made an excellent decision :)
Location: A lot of hotels say they are on the lake, but actually most of them have a road between you and the lake. Not here. You have breakfast on a terrace with the lake 5 steps away. There is even a beach owned by the hotel where you can relax.
The location is also great WRT traveling: it is dead easy to find by car and the boat jetty and rail station and indeed the main part of baveno are a 5 min walk away.
Cleanliness: the hotel is spotlessly clean from top to bottom.
Staff: this has to be the friendliest, most helpful staff I have ever come across. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they even gave us a free bottle of Prosecco when we checked out.
Food: breakfasts are an excellent selection of typically continental dishes. We are dinner in the hotel once and it was excellent in both quality and value.

Overall, as you can see, we cannot speak highly enough of this place. We will definitely return as soon as we can.

Last year we wrote about our holiday in Hotel Rigoli and said it was like a little bit of heaven. We just returned home from our 3rd vacation in Hotel Rigoli and we are glad to report that this year was every bit as wonderfull. The family and all the staff make you feel very welcome. The breakfast is just as good as any 5 star Hotel and the the evening dinner is lovely local Italian cuisine. This year the bathrooms have been upgraded to 5 star standard with lovely new soft white towels.

Bur forget about star ratings, what really makes this lakeside hotel so wonderfull apart from its great views over the lake is the family.

Claudia, Patrica, Fabio and Grand-Dad ,
thank you. Looking foward to our next visit.

A small group of us stayed here in may 2013. The hotel as previous reviews state is family run where the staff strike the right balance between making you feel welcome but not being over the top. The hotel is extremely clean and the bar and terrace area are pleasant. The prices are very reasonable in the bar and an abundance of nibbles provided with every drink!

We didn't opt for the lake view i would recommend you do but that said don't let it it put you off staying if it isn't available. We had food in the hotel twice the food was good with a small choice on the menu but all freshly cooked my only disappointment was the frozen chips as a side.

A stones throw away from the ferry that gets you around the lake I would recommend the Switzerland express tour - boat to Locarno train through the mountains and then regular train back to Baveno all for under 40 euros.

The age group was a little old but again don't let that put you off - our party ranged from 30 to 60 and it didn't put us off in fact I think the staff were quite pleased with some younger people!

Nothing more to say other than its a great hotel and I would stay there again over one of the bigger faceless hotels like the dino or splendid.

Room Tip: Lake view or side lake view

The Rigoli is a three star 32 room family run hotel directly on Lake Maggiore.. The lake view rooms have balconies so you can enjoy the scenery. Breakfast was fine including eggs to order (which I really appreciate.) It is a leisurely 10 minute walk to town and the ferry to use to visit the Isola Bella , Isola Pescatori, and Stresa. Dinner is a fixed price menu with few choices we did not find attractive. The street sign advertising the Rigoli sums it up: "A family and welcoming ambience for a magic feeling."
The english may not be great, but we concur...

Room Tip: Room 324 is a large lake front room with balcony and two lounge chairs in the room. Worth requestin...

My wife and I stayed three nights at Hotel Rigoli on Lake Maggiore and we are happy we did. After crossing the Alps by car from Geneva (do it, the scenery is great), we arrived at the hotel at about 3 PM. The reception by the owners was warm, a very pleasant couple. They showed us to our room which was spotless and well appointed; the beds were quite comfortable. We relaxed, seated on the balcony to enjoy the great panoramic view of the lake, with a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio (not expensive) and small canapés from the hotel.

The hotel's location is perfect. It is about a twelve minute leisurely walk to the village's main street and center where there are many restaurants and shops. Also located on main street is the station from which one can purchase day tickets to visit many of the islands by boat (recommended).

The buffet breakfast which was included was plentifu and very good indeedl - many cold cuts, a good variety of cheeses, various breads, eggs (cooked to order), coffee, etc..

We ate dinner there the first night; the menu was plentiful and the food was, well, just OK. The following two evenings we ate in restaurants in the village.

We highly recommend this hotel because of its location, its warmth, its cleanliness. The atmosphere was relaxed throughout our stay. Do not hesitate one second to take a room with a balcony facing the lake - you'll be glad you did.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Rigoli in September 2012 in Baveno. We had a very enjoyable stay!. The owners and staff were all so happy and friendly, they made us feel very welcome. The hotel is right on the lake and we had a room with a balcony overlooking the lake just beautiful. The view is very pretty and serene, we even saw swans swimming on the lake.. Breakfast was quite substantial, cereal, fruit, breads, cakes, cold meat. cheese, eggs, toast and lots more even cappuccino. We had dinner a few times in their dining room and it was very nice.
The Hotel Rigoli is just around the corner from where the smaller "summer boats" leave for the islands or catch the ferry both very reasonable cost wise. The "summer boats" run about every 1/2 hour we found them good to use and it was fun on the smaller boats sometimes we were the only people on board. There are a few nice little cafes and restaurants around for a cheap meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would love to go back one day!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake
