“Fabulous and worth every euro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

My sis and I splurged at the end of a Tuscany tour and spent 2 nights at the Splendid. It was my second stay and will do it again! The room rate for 2 people with a balcony facing Lake Maggiore in March was 165 euros per night. An elaborage breakfast buffet was an addition 15 euros. Hotel is a nice walk to town where there are some nice little restaurants. Stressa is about a mile away and is bigger and has more shops, etc. The rooms are spacious, bedding elegant and the restrooms are huge, with a big big shower. Nice amenities and friendly staff.

Room Tip: ask for a room on lake Maggiore

We had only planned to stay one night and we ended up staying for three. Simple as that. The hotel was AMAZING! The grounds were breathtaking... it was right ON the water (no road in front like most hotels in the area). The pool was awesome and the view was GREAT. We had paid for a mountain view but since they were not booked they bumped us up to a water view without us having to even ask.

Only downfalls, you have the pay for internet, pay for parking, pay for breakfast, and pay for the hot tub.

One of our favorite hotels in Italy during our two week stay. We WOULD go back in a heartbeat.

** Side note, DO NOT go the the botanical gardens on mainland. It was a horrible horrible waste of money. Instead take the boats to the island for the same price and see magnificent gardens!!

hotel has been modernised in 2009. The view from rooms and dining room are
fantastic. The hotel is decorated in an opulent style not to my taste but bed comfortable.
Lots of marble / gold/ wood / candelabres etc. The walls in de corridors covered
in rich material and leather covering on doors etc. The bathroom redone very nice but
there was a toilet smell which the hotel tried to disguise by spraying the room and bathroom. Service very good and friendly. Enjoyed our stay. No parking allowed outside
so every body is forced to pay Euro 10. per day for the hotel garage. Otherwise a long walk to find parking space in the street. Dining was ok but not that special. Had 1 dinner and then decided to eat in Beveno.

Were there for two nights (3 person room). Very clean, elegant furnishing and great view of Lago Maggiore with Isole Borromee adn mountains. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well as multilingual. Hotel is right on the lake with private beach and just minutes walking from the small and charming city center.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is very beautiful, We got a room on lakeside with a big balcony. (extra cost). A great view ! The room was very nice with nice decors and furniture. Looked clean. Tv set had no English channels although they were mentioned in the channel-overview...Everything is in Italian (even Schwarzenegger) so we were cut of for 3 days for the news. The breakfast is not included and will cost you 15-20 euro's a person. The breakfast is absolutly not worth the money, but you sit at the lake and that's pretty.Parking was great. The hotel has an underground garage that is pretty clean. Will cost you 8 euro's a day. Overall the hotel looked really very nice, our room was pretty nice and our view was very nice. The beds were very very hard, that's allways in Italy. Maybe because the Italians are little people and not that hevay for a better matrass. Baveno is a place for old people. Not many (good) restaurants and nothing to do in the evening. If you like a very quiet surrounding, go to Baveno. You can get boats to get to all the beautiful islands. It is a must do !! Very beautiful islands.
We do surely recommend this hotel because it looks beautyful. Get a room on the lake and enjoy the quiteness, No free internet.

Situated on the lake side, the staff & food were first class. Baveno is rather small & lacks the facilities that the next town, Stresa, has but there is a ferry stop & a train station.

One of the nicest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. Fabulously decorated, with wood paneled walls, marble bath, terrace with a lake view, al-fresco mural over the bed, silk pillows, premium fixtures, beautiful furnishings, flat screen TV, true quality at a reasonable price. We encountered only two problems: the wi-fi did not work with my iPad and the A/C did not adequately cool the room. Management admitted that their IT guy had encountered the problem with Internet access on the iPad and refunded the fee. And also acknowledged that there was a problem with the A/C and offered to move us to another room. we declined the move and asked for a fan, which was promptly brought to our room. This hotel has undergone a recent complete renovation in the past year and is beautiful. The staff was helpful, with just a bit of Italian attitude, and overall an excellent experience. I would highly recommend this hotel as a great place to enjoy Lago Maggiore.
