“Memorable few days in Sirmione”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Hotel Pace is in a lovely position on Lake Garda and in the centre of Sirmione old town Its actually next to the hotels Catulla (which is run by the same family as Pace) and Marconi Both hotels are also very highly rated on Trip Advisor
We had a lovely room overlooking the Lake but needed to plug away to get it as not all rooms have the great views

Breakfast was a fabulous buffet with lots of healthy fresh fruit and decidedly unhealthy but delicious croissants and cake in every flavour imaginable However we saved the best until last We ate our last evening meal in Sirmione in the hotel restaurant We had a superb table by the lake on a beautiful evening We were treated like royalty by the staff and the food was wonderful Surely must be a Michelin star They also recommended very pleasant good value local wine which kept the bill down a bit

The Hotel Pace is on the Piazza Valentino At the other end of the square is a tree shaded restaurant/pizzeria called San Lorenzo which we also enjoyed Not same thing as the Pace restaurant but good all the same It was always full, friendly and everything a family Italian restaurant should be

Room Tip: Keep trying to get the best rooms with a view Room 88 for example

Spent 2 really enjoyable weeks there.
All the staff are so helpful and friendly, and if they don't know something, they know someone who does!
They provided useful information on bus, train, ferry, info on Verona, and Milan etc.
We were given something off the bill because we spent a few days in Venice ( not a package deal).
The quality of sleep was really good as there were no noises and the black out blinds kept out the early morning sun.
We found it refreshing that there was no bacon, egg etc. for breakfast,(but then we are vegetarian) The choices and quality of the food for that meal are amazing.
I was surprised at the regularity of the linen changes.
The bus stop is about 5 mins walk away, and arrive about every 1/2 hour.
Make sure to find out the last bus times if you travel out of the town, as it could cost a taxi fare from the train stations in Riva Del Garda, or Pesciara.
Most evenings there was a little performance or concert either in the square or in the church.
A tenor who sang in the church had a voice just like Andrea Botchelli, and it was for free!
Worth noting to pack the insect repellant if planning to sun bathe near the lake.!

Room Tip: Lake view a must.

Just returned home from a delightful trip to Lake Garda and a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel Pace in Sirmione. The hosts made us very welcome and the hotel itself was delight. The meals provided in our half board package were of a truly excellent quality, of a far higher grade than one would normally expect with a package deal. The breakfasts provided were from a buffet but a superb selection on offer including a wonderful range of freshly baked cakes and biscuits. The hotel is located centrally in the old town (centro storico) with a waterfront position providing great views as the sun sets whilst enjoying dinner.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a lake view room as they had a free one available and this certainly makes a dif...

We have just come back from our 2 week stay at the Pace, and again it was outstanding!
Our room (the panoramica) was spacious and the vies were amazing, the bathroom with the free standing bath is also amazing.
We booked halfboard and the food we had every night was oustanding, we had something different every night and the quality is superb, unlike what other people wrote I could not fault the food at all, having been to a lot of very good restaurants in my life for what you pay extra at halfboard it is more than worth it. Especially with the prices in Sirmione.
The staff has also been outstanding, from the waiters to cleaners, everyone is so friendly and helpful!!! The pier is great in the summer if you want a quick dip in the lake or just relax on the sunbeds, and towels are also provided.
The only thing I could fault were the pillows which were to hard for my liking but as soon as I mentioned it, I had 3 soft pillows on my bed.
Because we got married in Sirmione our entire family stayed in the Hotel and from what Ive seen, all the rooms were brillant and comparing to Hotels in the town the Pace is the place to be!!! We are coming back next year!!! Its a great place to stay because its a family run Hotel and its in the perfect location!

Thoroughly enjoyed Hotel Pace in Sirmione Lago di Garda. Our spacious room had a high vaulted ceiling and a large bathroom with double sinks. Double doors led out onto a balconcy with a beautiful view of Lake Garda. Nice cushioned lounge chairs / umbrellas on the private deck by the Lake was so relaxing. Swimming in Lake Garda even better. Breakfast is included in the room rate - biggest and most diverse continental breakfast I've ever seen. Great value !!

Execellent three days in total relaxing mode. Very friendly and accommodating service. Small hick-up with room safe that seemed totally unimportant after a day or two. Unimaginable driving into old town and hence understandable awkward parking arrangements, but in our vacational mode it was just an exotic touch.

This Hotel is in a great location if you need some time to rest and recover during your your travels. It has lake frontage and the jetty jutting out over the lake is the ideal location for a few quiet Spritz, or whatever your choice in alcohol.

A few suggestions. As the hotel is in the heart of the village, if you are driving in I suggest you park outside and walk in to find the hotel first before driving in. We had a dinner at the restaurant in the hotel and while this was enjoyable from the convenience and location point of view, the food was ordinary. A better option is to eat in one of the many cafes/restaurants nearby. The breakfast is incredible, the range and quantity of food is impressive to say the least and you can take it out onto the jetty which is an ideal location. The rooms were good and the staff impressively helpful.

The only real negative was that we booked a Lake View room and did not really receive one. While we were in a room on the lake side, we were only on the first floor and the trees had grown so high the lake view was all but totally obstructed. To be fair the staff would have moved us, though there were no spare lake view rooms.

Overall this is a good hotel for seeing the very interesting town and medieval village and an ideal location for a bit of 'downtime' in a busy European vacation.
