“Went for valantines day for one night, wish I had stayed at home!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

I booked this place for one night and booked the best possible room expecting a lake view which I asked for in my booking. I got a crappy room next to a lift (Room 28) what a disappointment. So noisy and when I asked for another room, I was told they were fully booked. The sky tv did not work despite the hotel worker trying to fix it, the booking.com web site said there was a free mini bar, there wasn't, the beds were awful, one pillow each, just awful. This trip has cost me over £500 for one night including flights and everything about it has been poor. If you have to stay at this hotel, make sure you have it in writing you are not next to the lift, don't expect luxury, don't expect a good nights sleep. It looks like you get a lake view and this was the reason I booked the hotel. You don't and that was so disappointing for me. After i went mad about no Sky i got moved and they tried to charge me another 40 euros. i told them to leave it and was going to check out, they relented and moved me which is quit surprising as the hotel was supposed to be fully booked. the new room was with a lake view and i got a good nights sleep so good rooms are available. I read elsewhere in reviews that when you book through booking.com you get a cheap price but a rubbish room, and this is exactly what happened to me even though I booked the best room available. I would never return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for confirmation you have a lake view, make sure you have confirmation you are not next to the l...

Stayed mid October 2012 for a long anniversary weekend. We caught the shuttle bus from the airport to Verona (6 euros each), then the bus from Verona (only 3.5 euros) dropped us 100 yards away. A bit longer but much cheaper than an airport shuttle (we were quoted 75 euros).
The initial views of Sirmione are gorgeous, as you enter the old town via the city wall gate next to the castle. Simply turn left to the hotel.
We'd booked a superior room with balcony and lake view via Expedia and contrary to some recent reports that is what we got. The room (41) wasn't huge, being somewhat dominated by the king size bed, but looked like it had been recently redecorated, and the bathroom (shower only) was fitted out nicely with very modern fittings.
No tea and coffee making facilities in the room is the only thing we'd consider a minor gripe, but that's probably being too used to British hotels. Given the time of year the room was warm but not overly so, but it does retain heat, so if you go in hot weather the air conditioning would be a must.
Breakfast was a buffet affair with a good choice of breads/pastries, yoghurts, cheese and meats. One day it was a bit slow to attract a waiter's attention to get a pot of tea, but otherwise no complaints.
The thermal pool is lovely and warm with indoor and outdoor jacuzzis (although they do make you wear an unflattering bathing cap) and well worth a try (NB try the corridor jets for a surprise).
Reception service was excellent - we had to get another bathrobe as the one left fro my wife was a bit small, no trouble at all providing another one instantly. Rooms were cleaned properly and chocolates left on the pillows in the afternoon.

Things to do in Sirmione:
Just wandering the old streets. We spent hours on this, everywhere is clean and tidy, cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours line the southern section, with the northern section being tree-lined avenues of hotels. There is also a path that follows the beaches all round the headland.
Boat trips on the lake - we caught a ferry over to Garda, which is a pleasant small town and well worth a visit.
Grotte di Catullo - vast ruins of a Roman villa with spectacular views across the lake in all directions.
Castle. We didn't get to do this as despite the signs outside and the guidebooks, it is closed on Sundays in October, when we had planned to go.

Eating out - we ate out every evening. It's not cheap, we averaged 70 euros for two of us and without any wine (cheapest bottle we found in a restaurant was 20 euros). Bar Moderno just round the corner was our favourite - very friendly waiters and ravioli al Bagos to die for.

Room Tip: Certainly worth going for a lake view - sunsets over the lake are lovely.

My husband and I spent two nights here in September. The hotel is wonderfully positioned in the Old Town and we had a lovely view of the harbour from our (expensive!)room. We were very happy with our room in general; spacious, fresh and clean, and there were plenty of toilettries in the bathroom.

We actually stayed in the hotel 10 years ago when we got married and before coming back, we advised them of this. We were delighted to receive a bottle of prosecco in our room on arrival! The only real negative thing about the room/terrace was that the flowers/plants in the boxes were dead and not very attractive.

As for the service, it is not as good as it was 10 years ago. We were on a half board package and the service in the dining room and at breakfast was somewhat haphazard. The waiters took some time to give us our wine, forgot to advise about the salad bar etc, but when the food did some it was good, well cooked and tasty (and the wine was good too - from an extensive list). Delighted that on the night of our anniversary we were able to dine outside on the terrace; this was really special indeed, as was breakfast outside the next day. The service at reception was also a bit crazy but the staff were as patient and as friendly as possible with all the guests.

Thoroughly enjoyed the pool as well (nice and warm), although it was difficult to find someone to provide drinks (the hotel was short staffed).

On the whole an enjoyable stay which brought back some amazing memories.

Hotel is wonderful and magical, right on the lake and next door to medieval castle. Very clean, decorated with great taste and romantic atmosphere. Starting right from booking we had very good experience – Meri from reservation was extremely friendly and helpful. We felt were welcome and positively surprised by the amount of attention dedicated to us. Breakfast buffet was amazing - assortment and quality could not be better!
We can only recommend this hotel, especially for special occasions. Thank you for unforgettable stay!

Long a well know and respected accommodation in Sirmione, we found this hotel to be a disappointment and overpriced. We were two couples traveling together and booked two superior doubles with lake view. When we arrived we found that we had one room which fit that description and another much smaller room that did not. We asked to have a room that fit the booking description but that was not possible. Every time we went to the registration desks or even walked by there was a guest complaining about a problem. We were there in June, it was warm but not terribly hot, our air conditioning did not cool the room (this was a common complaint overheard at the desk). In our room the carpet was worn and dirty. Drapes were frayed and had a hole. Although Sirmone is a small place the staff at the front desk was worthless in giving directions to local dining options. Breakfast included a wide selection of options but was understaffed and it took a long time to get our cappucinni. An excellent location but not a place we would visit again.

Room Tip: We asked for end rooms with balconies with a lake view. When we arrived only one of the rooms fit t...

I stayed here for three nights end of August 2012.
Fantastic location with all restaurants and jetty for boats on the doorstep.
You have to walk past the castle to get to the hotel, breathtaking view.
I stayed in the comfort room with juliet balcony with view of castle and lake and pool, room okay quite basic but clean and had hairdryer tv etc, robes and towels supplied Maids did a good job.
There are two separate buildings for this hotel. I stayed in the side where the reception was, so to get to the pool you have to cross over to the other building to access the pool.
Beautiful pool, thermal spa temperature was like a bath.
You can ring through to staff to bring drinks and meals, meals were fine and reasonably priced although the staff were a little slow to respond to requests and come down to the pool area.
The reception side of the hotel has a restaurant where breakfast is taken, Breakfast was fine nothing special just usual buffet. Jetty outside where you can take coffee lunch etc has fantastic view of lake, infact all boats pull up alongside for day trips to other islands so fantastic.
Shops and restaurants on the doorstep, beautiful clothes etc, restaurants range from average price and up,so fits everyone's budget. Ice creams a must at local deli!!
Literally as you walk out of the hotel you are in the centre of the area with view of the castle.
Hotel well worth a visit, just felt staff could have been a little more attentive, since my return I have emailed them to ask them to return so DVD player leads I had left in the room and still no reply so show's what I mean about not being attentive.
Would I return yes for sure

Our experience of the Hotel Sirmione was overall really positive and we would definitely return.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful, providing information on trips to Verona/Venice etc.
We booked through booking.com and I specifically requested a room with a balcony and lake view - both of which we got, and I feel that we probably got one of the best rooms in the hotel. The view was just ridiculously stunning, encompassing both the marina and the lake, we could literally sit on our bed with the balcony doors open and throw food into the marina to feed the birds - it was heaven to wake up to a view like that and really added to the sense of relaxation the hotel delivered.
The room was spacious, clean, large comfy bed (if not a bit on the hard side!), nice bathroom with relatively powerful shower, awesome big comfy toweling dressing gowns and slippers - nice touch! Generally coudln't fault the room - the TV was large enough and a flat screen, we were able to link up our laptop to the TV and watch stuff we'd recorded from home for some quality late-night viewing.. very cool.
The pool and general spa area were much better than we expected.. it really is a boost to have a pool within the hotel grounds in Sirmione as it's not that common. The water in the pool is essentially warm lake water but it is definitely cleaner than being in the actual lake, and apparently has nourishing properties due to the sulpherous content... our skin was so much softer and smoother even after our first dip and it was just really relaxing. The jacuzzis (both indoor and outdoor), sauna, and various showering features were just great too. Loadsa sun beds going almost right along the length of the marina as well as along one side of the pool.. pretty comfy and complementary hotel sirmione towels. We found that if we got down by like 9am then there's absolutely no issue with getting a sun bed.
Breakfast was really nice, prosecco first thing in the morning - yes please! Amazing... (not that I'm a total booze hound or anything haha but it was just the perfect start to the day)... loads of breakfast options, even for a herbivore like me. The main advantage was the view from your breakfast table, basically unbeatable.
Sirmione is a gorgeous area, couldn't advise it more. Hotel Sirmione literally could not BE any better positioned - so many eateries and attractions closeby, it's perfect.
Oooh also there are free chilled water bottles available by the pool bar, wish we knew this before we arrived as we did a 6km treck to find a cheap supermarket and hauled by like 15l of juice and water back on our first day in 35 degree heat - it was savage!

Only a few areas that might benefit from improvement:
1. service at breakfast was a little slow/non-existant at times
2. some information available in the rooms about wifi etc would be handy (the wifi was EXCELLENT btw, strong signal and you could even use it at the pool area and even nearby restaurants .. seriously ace! Also info on pool opening times etc..
3. One night, there was a dinner/dance event going on across the marina in an area which is usually a carpark, which you could essentially throw a stone at from our balcony it's that close to the hotel and the music was PUMPING til almost 2a.m., wildly loud so good luck sleeping if this area is being used for an event, which it often is. Would have been great to get a heads up as we had to be up early-ish for a trip to Verona on our anniversary the next morning.

Otherwise, perfect! & with the views and location, ridiculously romantic beyond belief!

Room Tip: Balcony and lake view = awesome!
