“Nice hotel, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

We stayed at this hotel as part of a group. The external appearance is a bit disappointing, but inside, the place is immaculate. The staff are fantastic and couldn't have been more helpful.
There is a wonderful view over Lake Garda from the hotel terrace, which is on the lake front. The hotel was on the fringe of the old part of Sirmione town, and a short walk from the centre. There was no noise disturbance. The food was pretty good, the breakfasts were comprehensive.
Sirmione itself has quite a lot to offer - mediaeval castle, fantastic Roman Villa ruins, colourful streets, abundant restaurants, bars, gelateria(s)!
One niggle: I hate hotels that seem 'mean': whilst the staff/environment etc were excellent, there were no complimentary tea/coffee facilities in the rooms; the shower gel was presented in small sachets that weren't large enough for a complete shower, tap water wasn't available in the restaurant. These are hotel management issues and didn't detract from our enjoyment of the stay.
Finally, and this was annoying, the hotel management issued a notice on the evening of the penultimate day (a Saturday) to the effect that they would only accept 'plastic' payment of excess bills that were over 100 Euros - what a cheek!

Room Tip: Most rooms were great - avoid Nos 202, 204, 206, 302, 304, 306. They had shared 'micro-balconie...

Dear NorfolkCommonMan,
thank you for your time in writing a review about our Hotel. Your comments are most appreciated and will help us in growing our standards even further and improve our relations with Guests.
Just a couple of things must be pointed out: tea and coffee facilities are not part of the majority Italian hotels' facilities and are not listed among ours; Kindly note that tap water is never served in restaurants and hotels of a certain standard..... the word "mean" is more appropriate for the guests rather than for the hotel!

as others have reported, this is a very nice well managed hotel. the exterior is deceiving. once inside the hotel can be appreciated. the rooms are comfortable and spacious. the staff was helpful and friendly. breakfast was good and the wifi was free! i would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: be sure to ask for a room with a lake view.

I visited this hotel with a friend for two weeks holiday and we enjoyed absolutely perfect weather apart from one day's rain and the occasional quick storm! Although the hotel exterior would in a way seem uninviting, once inside, it was certainly a different story! I would comment that this hotel deserves more than a 4 star rating - it really was excellent. There were always attentive staff on hand and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. As for location and cuisine at this hotel, you could not fault it. Both my friend and I had superior, partial lake view rooms, with balcony, next to one another on the 2nd floor which were very good indeed and looked down on to the pool and overlooking the lake. These rooms we found to be more than adequate! The "partial" view of the lake was in fact stunning! Sirmione itself was full of character and certainly was a superb choice of resort for our two weeks on beautiful Lake Garda!

Room Tip: A "partial" lake view room overlooking pool was really excellent - a higher floor is alway...

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and the staff.
We stayed at the beginning of May and had taken the half board option. What a treat!!
The food is fantastic and the menu changes every day. The serving staff are just so pleasant and helpful.
We had a side lake view at the start of our stay and moved after a couple of days to a full lake view. Both rooms were spacious, beds were comfy and bathrooms really good. Not too keen on the hairdryer (one of those daft hung on the wall tube things), but I should have known to take my own, so not the hotel's fault.
Every member of staff we came into contact with was delightful and a credit to the hotel and the management.

Room Tip: Have a full lake view if you can because it adds so much to the experience.

Great location, lovely common parts, friendly, efficient staff but the rooms are very sparse, no paintings/pictures/objects in the bedroom and sadly they are building an extension to the outdoor pool, so it is very noisey and dusty, I felt we should have been informed of this when booking!

Lovely terrace with excellent breakfast and good service - with a smile - something we do not get in the U.K.!

Dear Madam,

thank you for your review: we have actually built a new second pool with thermal water (35°) ,which will be tested on June 6 and operating from mid June. Due to the very bad weather conditions in March, April and May construction works have been longer than we had planned (now they are over). We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

This hotel has very spacious, well appointed and modern rooms. The location at the end of the Sirmione peninsula is quiet but only 5 minutes from the heart of town. Good panoramic restaurant and sun terrace. Efficient management by Signor Giovanni and his team.

We had a great holiday (despite three stormy days out of ten) in this hotel. The side view from the excellent room we were allocated (218) was obscured by the concrete fire escape and we asked to be moved. Although they were very busy they managed to relocate us to a junior suite (332) which although much further from the lake had good views too. We had a balcony to the front (town side) and another balcony to the side for the lake view. The hotel is well managed and run and whilst all the staff are professional they are very friendly and always pleased to help. There is a good choice of breakfast which we took indoors as there were too many sparrows on the terrace trying to steal your food. Dinner was always excellent offering a good choice daily with a distinctly Italian flavour (thankfully). We had friends join us for dinner on a couple of occasions and the management and waiting staff were very accommodating. The location is very good being just out of the main part of town but still only a ten minute walk to the castle or the pick-up point for tours. Sirmione is an amazing old town but easily explored in one/two days and can feel a bit claustrophobic. It is a good base to explore Lake Garda though, by boat or bus/car. We enjoyed our holiday and the Continental was a major part of it.
