After reading all the positive reviews regarding this hotel I was a little surprised why it ranked number one and now I can understand how this happens.
The couple who run the hotel are lovely, especially the gentleman as he generally deals with everyone for breakfast, but he solicits reviews from the guests as they are checking out. “Don’t forget to write a review for Trip Advisor.” This occurred twice in our presence.
A few things about this hotel, it is not conveniently located as it is more than a 45 minute walk into the town where most of the action is. They do offer you a bike to ride, but riding at night, in the dark is a good way to get hit by a car, as the streets are not well lit.
There is parking at the hotel and it is free; be sure to ask for the parking card from the hotel.
The breakfast was one of our least favourites on our two week trip, they served processed cheese, the croissants were awful, overcooked and dry and some were even burned. We stayed there for three days, and the croissants didn't get any better. My husband thought the coffee was terrible. The fresh fruit was very good, and you can’t ruin that.
The bathroom was the most comical thing I have ever seen. They appear to have had modular components dropped into the very narrow and long space, with the sink at the entrance door, the shower stall with a sliding curtain in the middle and the toilet at the far end. It looked like the interior of a travel trailer with 70’s style wood paneling. It may have been unappealing to the eye but the worst thing was that if someone wanted to have a shower there was no access to the toilet and if you went to the toilet after someone used the shower the floor was wet because of the shower and you had to step over it to avoid the wet area. I added photos to help illustrate the space.
The one thing we liked about the location of the town Sirmione was that it was convenient for day trips to Verona, Brescia and north up the lake for a scenic drive between Tignale and Pieve di Ledro. There are many other hotels in Sirmione that looked a lot better then Hotel Belevdere, so look further down the Trip Advisor list because this one isn’t number one in my opinion.
