“Best place to stay ın Como especially off season”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed at this hotel once in 2010 and twice in october 2013. We had the same consistent quality of service at all times. The town gets very quiet at nights during off season so the square where the hotel is located is the most lively place during evenings. It is also steps away from the shopping district and lake side. It takes 5 minutes to walk to the shore where you can get on boats for a short como lake tour. The rooms are very basic but clean and well maintained. It is good value. The pizzeria of the hotel is the best in town! There is parking place for an extra 10 euro per day, big convenience. While in town, we strongly recommend you take the 1 hour boat ride and take the funicular up the hill where on both cases you will experience fantastic view.
Our only feedback would be on breakfast. It can be improved as it does not do justice knowing how great food the hotel serves at lunch and dinner. Homemade jam, good cheese and eggs would be good alternatives. Still would stay here every time we come to como.
The room on the second floor which has a window overlooking the interior of the building is the best. Both the room and the bathroom are bigger.

We love this small hotel in the center of Como. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very modern.
The food in the restaurant next door is great. The only thing that could be improved is the breakfast.

Conveniently located just a few blocks from Lake Como facing Piazza Mazzini, the hotel Albergo del Duca was a great base for exploring Como, taking the ferry on the lake, riding the funicolare to Brunate, or walking along the lake shore to Villa Olma. The staff were pleasant, the room was comfortable and clean, free Wifi service was reliable, and the adjacent restaurant La Collone served excellent pizza, minestrone, pastas (primi) and fish (secondi). Our room faced the piazza, and the only problem was cigarette smoke and noise at night. Given Italian smoking habits, it’s hard to hold the hotel management responsible for that.

Room Tip: Nice view of the piazza for rooms on the front but be aware that smoke may rise from the outdoor res...

We stayed for 4 days 3 nights. They have only 9 rooms and it's rather cosy, by the second day, the owners were quite acquainted with us and their service was very good and friendly.

However, I must say, the keys left without security was quite alarming as anyone can help themselves to the room keys.

As we stayed during winter, the room was very well heated, but I am not too sure if it will give the same feeling during summer. Anyhow, this is the place we would stay again!

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and found it excellent at every level. It is a family owned business and this is apparent in the service. I arrived late evening and was taken personally to my bedroom and given all relevant explanations and instructions. I stayed in a

Room Tip: the front rooms have the view but may be a tad noisy in the season as they overlook the piazza.

We found this place by accident a couple of streets back from the touristy main square.
The restaurant is large but in September we were able to sit 'out front' in the covered/ open-air area. it was always popular and the food and sevice excellent and at fair prices.
We ate there twice and spoke with other diners who were guests and they seemed to be very satisfied with the hotel and especially the staff helpfuleness
