“Wonderful Hotel Marco's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

My wife and I and two friends spent a week at Hotel Marco's and it was the best experience of our entire trip to Italy. Our room had a balcony and a fantastic lake view. Although small compared to some others we stayed in, the room was large enough for us to feel very comfortable. Great bathroom with shower. That being said, the best part of the entire stay was the friendly and more than helpful staff. Too many names to mention but Tarryb at the front desk was top notch in his willingness to help in any way. The hotel is connected to the Ristorante Funiculare; and what a find. Every staff member was friendly and the food was great at a reasonable price. Our favorite waiter, Antonio made us feel like old friends. The entire staff was wonderful! Highly recommend the Marco's to all. Many fond memories remain. Breakfast was great as well with the warm smile of Immacolata starting our day. We have found that a few kind words instead of unreasonable demands while visiting other countries reaps many rewards in getting to know the people. Thanks, Leone and Nicola (owners)

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view. Como is beautiful

An adequate hotel in a good location, it has a good restaurant (run seperately, you can't charge it back to you room). The breakfast room and rooms at the front have lovely lake views. Our small room at the rear didn't have airconditioning. Parking is on the street adjacent to the hotel if there are spots.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view.

Apart from great location next to the lake and near the train station, nothing impressed me much by this hotel. All the staffs are cold and no service mind. The wifi is free for only 1 hour "regardless of how long you stay" which is terrible and then they will charge you for the additional. Make sure you realize that.

Room is no sound-proof at all and I heard people from my same country talking all night long such that I couldnt sleep. If you need to stay, book for room no.10....the view is fantastic

If its a great view of Lake Como you want, this is just for you! if its luxury you are after this is not for you. but for basic quick stopover hotel its adequate, hotel does have a good restaurant, and very good location with many restaurants within walking distance.
Staff are all super friendly, hotel is clean and what you would expect.
Can be lot of noise from other bars, restaurants into the night, early hours if you sleep with window open.

Room Tip: great view of lake Como

Best feature of this hotel was the location on the lake with some good quality restaurants that line the foreshore. Our room was very small and cramped but the bathroom was adequate in size. No aircon or fans in the room which made it very stuffy and hot especially of an afternoon. There was some kind of air cooling machine on the floor which blew a faint amount of air but it didn't cool the room down at all so we decided to turn it off as it had no effect on cooling the room. We had a small balcony but it didn't have a cover over it so we couldn't use it until sunset when it got cool enough to sit out there and this was during late September so during the peak summer season it would be a very hot room. This is a pity as the best feature of this hotel is the view of the lake and it would have been nice to sit on the balcony with a shade covering us and enjoy a glass of wine and relax.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room so you can enjoy the view of the lake

The room was small, but clean, had a great view of the lake and was in a good location. The staff was friendly and breakfast was good. We went to the Information place about 10 minutes from the hotel everyday to ask about trains, ferries, and hiking, they were extremely helpful,

The restaurant downstairs had excellent food and the Waiters were great.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the lake

Comfortable small hotel close to restaurants, railway station and lake shore, so very conveniently located. Breakfast was generous and staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Not every room has a great view but was not a problem after a long day of sightseeing on the lake. Air con worked well. Pleased with this choice and value it offered.
