We stayed here for 10 nights from 8th July this year. Got to say I read some mixed reviews before booking but the latter reviews were pretty good so took the plunge.
Plus points and there are many - Nice clean comfortable hotel. Decent size room for 2 (classis double) which faced the pool, do try for one of these rooms as the reverse view is not over spectacular. The gym was adequate for my use, 6 pieces of apparatus all in good condition. Suana and steam room availalbe but I did not use these. The breakfast was excellent, lots of choice although you have to pay extra for omlettes and fried eggs which seemd strange to me. We eat 1 evening meal in the outside restaurant by the pool, quality was fine and not too badly priced. Very popular pleace and good ambience, serving staff are excellent.
The staff were fantastic and very friendly, speak to people as you would expect to be spoken to is my rule and it rarely fails. Special mention to Mirko who looks after the pool area, fantastic guy - very attentive and keeps the high standards going, Matteo works with Mirkho and is also a really nice guy. Also Sylvia in the restaurant and bar, lovely girl. The rooms are kept spotless so the cleaning staff are very thorough and lastly all the staff at reception, really very, very helpful. We had a problem with our transfer back to the airport and Claudia was brilliant, really helpful and could not have done more.
Now unfortunately for a well balanced review you have to mention the negative points and I would say these are relativley minor and did not really effect our holiday but they may be a bit offputting for certain guests. The hotel is not in the best location and there is some noise from the main roads that are within 100m of the hotel. There are very limited ammenities directly by the hotel, no shops, bars etc. There is a petrol station and a couple of pizzerias which are good within 200m. The room balconies are not deep at all, you can stand outside but there is no room for a table and chairs which I do enjoy on holiday. However saying this the Tavernola ferry point is very close by and you are only a matter of 15mins or so walk or 5 min ferry ride to the centre Cernobbio. Como centre is a pleasant 2.5 km walk or 5 min ferry ride. Bikes are also availalble to hire at the hotel which is quite a good way to get around.
All in all we had a fantastic holiday, a good allround value for money hotel but you do sacrifice location a bit for the hotel quality.
Would I go again - yes no problem.
